Phi Phi Accomodation

Our ranch in the trees!
Caught the ferry to Phi Phi Don nice and early and were there by 10am. Met by an employee of the hotel we were staying at who loaded up our rucksacks in a trailer and pulled them to the hotel! We checked in to find that our bungalow was right at the top of a small cliff covered by trees (see pic. we counted over a 100 steps!). Dumped our bags, got bikinis on and headed to the nearest beach, settled down with a cocktail, and then it rained! So we headed for the shelter of the shops! (Not as cheap as what we had been used to). Went out for a meal and wandered along the beach front to a 'Hippie' Bar where we had a few drinks and watched the fire poi spinners.

The next day was a beach day, and the day after we hired a long tail boat for the day and were taken on a tour around the Island. We stopped at a very secluded beach, and then Monkey Beach (we had to wade up to shore and the sea was crystal clear, we could see small fish swimminjg about our feet). The monkeys got a bit out of hand and one even took a liking to H's Fanta, and ran off into the trees with it (See Pic). As we came round the last corner of the Island back to where we started the waves got quite choppy and our bums were lifting off the seats. Those of you that know me will know that this freaked me out quite a bit!

We really loved our 3 days here, but we were quite surprised at the tourist area just after where the ferry docks as we were expecting it to be a bit quieter and idilic. There was also allot of rebuilding still taking place over quiet allot of the Island after all, it had been totally whipped out by the tsunami 2 years ago.
