We've been doing a lot of traveling lately. Where should I begin? Over the past couple of days we've hit Ayuthaya, (the old "capital" of Siam), Kanchanaburi (Home of the Bridge over the River Kwai), Erawan Falls, and a gorgeous dam/lake where we slept on sleeper rafts. Before we left Chiang Mai, we went out for a Thai Massage ($15 for 2 hours) and it was a hoot! It was worth every penny..but I really had to put my giggle muzzle on! When we finally arrived in Ayuthaya, we spent a lot of time learning about the historical sites...lots of beautiful ruins (mostly of temples & palaces). We were in the area on a Buddist holiday, so we were able to do a lot of "people watching" and learn about their culture/beliefs. Next, we went to nearby Kanchanaburi where we learned about the Death Railway... which was amazing. It was so moving and such a sad story. It really put some meaning behind riding the train over the River Kwai. I'll definitely have to watch the movie! After some time in the cemetary, we visited a local elementary school and helped teach some of the students English. They were so cute

and so curious about our eyes and noses! And yesterday, we visited Erawan Falls. As you can tell from the pictures, it was absolutely gorgeous... and the water was at a perfect temperature! We did some hiking and swimming and then had a picnic. From there we went out to the lake to catch our guest house raft where we spent the rest of the evening swimming, jet skiing, and just taking in the gorgeous scenery. Hate to cut this short, but I'm running late! Tomorrow we're headed to the beach!

That Ayuthaya temple was really interesting and seems different than the others. Yes, we'll have to rent the movie and watch it. You'll be humming the song! Now you'll be at the beach for several days, which I know is a highlight of your trip, but lots of sunscreen, don't forget. The pictures were great! Love, MOM
