It's been a few days since i did one of these and for the simple reason that i haven't really done much. Been using the time just to relax and take it easy from the hardcore traveling haha! I jest of course...well i haven't actually done much but i'll put a quick rundown of what has happened:
Buddah Bar:
Best bar i have been to on this trip. A very chilled out and cheap place that is run by a Thai guy who fancies himself as the next Jack Sparrow. He actually dresses up as Jack Sparrow most evenings, with a sword and a gun. On these nights he is "50% Jack Sparrow" when he drinks he is "100% Jack Sparrow!". His words not mine...and he does sway around when he drinks...which is most nights.
The bar is a good place to meet fellow travellers and there are a big mix of them...from English to Dutch to Israeli and also someone from British Bermuda (i made the mistake of calling her an American!). Also met some nice Thai people...one of whom i have been teaching English to! How cultural of me! Granted, it's words like boll*cks, tos*er and bint....don't blame me...she wants to know them so she can shout at the grumpy British!
Market:
The market here is good...it's no Chiang-Mai...but it is close enough. You can get a lot of cheap bargains here. But most of all you can get some good and very cheap food! One mistake we made though was going on a Wednesday. The day the market is normally a bit quieter...but as it had rained that day there was no market. Lazy buggers...little bit of rain and they don't work! Tsk!
Did manage to get some great food the following day though. Some of it was slightly odd though...weird rice stuff and pumpkin. But got a lot of free tasters haha!
Clubs:
On one night a few of us decided to see what the local clubs are like...in short they aren't great. Actually they were quite shi*! Lots of drunken Thai's who seem obsessed with Westerners and the entertainment was either lady boys dancing on the stage in one club. Or in the following club it was a Thai pop band. Needless to say, didn't stay too long!.
Rum and Storms:
Past two nights though have been pretty good and simple. Involves a few people buying one bottle of rum, some coke and some crisps and sitting by the river and watching the thunderstorms roll in. Nice!
All in all, it's been an easy and relaxing week! Now to more travelling...tomorrow i depart for one night in Phuket which is a 24hr bus ride (gonna be a big blog about that one). Then fly out to Kuala Lumpur, then Singapore then to Melbourne.
