We are not actually in Hua Hin, about 25km south of there but it won't let me find Pak Nam Pran on here for some reason - maybe because it's so secluded!
We spent 3 lazy days in Cha Am, everyday challenging ourselves to spend as little as possible, being well chuffed when we managed to eat a good meal for less than a quid!
There wasn't a right lot going on in Cha Am.. it has been referred to as 'Blackpool' so we were happy to move on a day or two earlier than planned.. We did rent bicycles and tried to find the local bus station, cycling with the local traffic, trying not to get knocked over, ringing the little bell every now and then.. mainly because it made us laugh!
So Friday morning we got a taxi to our new home, well our new home for the next 6 weeks.. we had a good laugh with the taxi driver securing ourselves a place to stay in Bangkok, only if Charlie does the cooking, I do the cleaning and the taxi driver will go work the taxi's to earn the crust.. sounds like a good deal to me!!
We arrived at our destination.. The Beach House Hotel, we were pretty much lost for words.. is this really going to be our new home for 6 weeks.. oh my!! On the beach in front of us was Asia's kite surfing champion, the moves he was pulling on those waves were immense, it looked pretty scary to me but Charlie was well giddy! We dumped our bags in our room and got invited to a late breakfast with the rest of the crew, being told they eat most meals together.. it seems like a perfect little chilled out community.. when people aren't kite surfing or tattooing they are lazing about in hammocks, by the pool or in the chill out bamboo huts.. listening to music, chatting about experiences, drawing or just looking out to the sea.. probably thinking 'this is the life man!'
Charlie met Bamboo his tattoo tutor, he seemed very pleased to meet Charlie, i think they will get along amazingly and make a good friendship over the next 6 weeks..
Within a couple of hours Charlie had signed up to do a kite surfing course and we'd agreed to go to a fancy dress party in Hua Hin on Saturday night, theme - Moulan Rouge! You know us.. we don't need to be asked twice to go to a fancy dress party!
Having been told what outfits we were wearing to the fancy dress we quickly got by the pool to get some colour to our pale bodies.. thinking we are going to look ridiculous otherwise!
We had a wander into the local town, some of the locals had definitely never seen white people before.. no tourists at all, it really is beautiful! I was over the moon when i spotted some little school kids, i was waving and saying sawadee kaa to them all.. although i should have been saying hello if i'm going to attempt to teach English!! Nonetheless they loved it and all started waving and getting excited! I'm going to head up the school on Monday and see what i can find out about a bit of work or just helping out, grateful for any experience.
The rest of the day was spent chilling and chatting, a couple of beers with our new friends and an early night.. Charlie preparing for his 9am kite surfing lesson the next day! Photo's to follow when the internet is working better ;o) x
