The next leg of our journey took us back to Bangkok, allowing us to delve deeper in this exotic city and then further south to the islands of Southern Thailand. It was a good feeling being back in Bangkok, generally knowing the area, knowing the scams and touts and knowing which street food is the best and which is best avoided. After a gruelling journey which involved 18 hours on a bus and 6 hours on 2 ferrys, we finally arrived on Koh Tao. To say it was worth it is an understatement. The place is idyllic, with a lovely beach, chilled bars and cool people. However, there is a price to pay for all this loveliness and that would be our accommodation! Dear all, Just a quick message as I know that I havent written in a while! Life here is good although a few days ago I had some quite nasty bacteria that decided to live in my stomach!! Thankfully after a course of anti biotics it has gone, and I feel normal again! How did we get here??......Were we washed up from a boat wreck onto these beautiful sands??......Where did the last few days go??.......... Dizzy and dazed we made it from Northern Laos, across the border and all the way down to the Thai Island of Koh Tao in 46 hours of travel. De to rangere er nu ankommet til Koh Tao. Her er de igang med at udvide deres horisont. Rygtet siger, at de er de mest talentfulde open water scuba elever siden Jacques Cousteau i 1940'erne. Efter en saadan uddannelse vil de ikke blot vaere rangere, men ogsaa faa froemandsemblemet. Da vi ankom til Koh Tao, indlogerede vi os i en laekker VIP-bungalow helt ude ved strandkanten. I'm now officially a certified PADI open water diver! Scuba diving was a bit nerve racking at first and there was 2 boring afternoons in the classroom but getting out into the real ocean and swimming with the fishies was fantastic. I can't wait to do it again. We didin't see anything out of the ordinary but there were beautiful blue, yellow fish and big schools of them, jellyfish and class coral. Matt got chatting to 3 guys, Joel, Stevie and Chris who, it turns out, are from Stockport! (One was born in Reddish and lived about 5 mins from where we live). Whilst Lisa was recovering from a bout of food poisioning : ( Matt went out to watch the match with them and had a lads night out. I don't know how long I ended up staying in Ko Tao but I loved every minute of it. The first day I arrived I was lucky enough to get a bungalow at the same place where my friends were staying but try as I might I could not find them anywhere. I searched the beach, every shop and restaurant but they were nowhere to be found.
