Entering the bay around east Railay
Throat's still sore, but I feel better.

40 sit-ups & 40 push-ups.

Breakfast next door and down to the pier to get a price for going to Railay. A boat taxi fro Krabi or a minibus to a closer point and a different boat taxi both cost 150 baht. The minibus looks a little more reputable so I go back for my bag.

On the way back the boat taxi guy spots me and has me wit a minute whilst he tries to find seven ore passengers. I get bored and go for the minibus, apparently it isn't running any more and I need to take a boat taxi the whole way.

Back at the boat taxi ranks the guy says he wont go anywhere until he has 8 passengers or I can pay 300 baht. I tell him I'll wait. He says he might be able to do it for 200 baht. I tell him I'm in no hurry. His friends laugh and he tries again and tells me I might have to wait hours. 10 minutes later one of the boat taxis has to head out that way and I can ride along. The vendor

tries asking me for 160 baht and I tell him I'll catch the minibus. His friend offers me a job.

The ride to Railay is wet. Very wet. The driver loans me a waterproof jacket and I cover all but my head and close my eyes. I'm still soaked when I get there. HE drops me off in the shallows and I have to wade the last 30 yards to shore with my bag on. It's raining and I take cover in the fist bar I see.

I get prices for rooms and when the rain slows I venture forth. The mini-backpack falls off the main backpack. It won't be until tomorrow that I'll found out how hard.

The place I've been pointed to has 300 baht rooms and they're very basic; mattress, cold shower, fan and dim lights. But it does have blanket, towels and a power socket. The restaurant guesthouse advertises cheap food so head there for lunch with my book. They even give away free cookies with each meal!!!

Back at my room I find my laptop is dead; it's not finding the harddrive. The only tools I have with me are on

Not really sure what I'm looking at, but it's neat
my Swiss army. Almost get the laptop apart, but one of the screws wont undo and I'm too tired to mess around with it. Maybe there's an electronics shop on the island that can help?

I stop at climbing shop and ask about climbing for a couple of hours tomorrow. As part of my exploration I find a path behind the shops and follow it; halfway along I hear a rustling in the trees and when I look up I see I'm surrounded by monkeys.

Back for more reading and dinner. The east side of Railay isn't very long so I walk it and explore some of the other side. It's dark when I wander back. I find a bar playing live music and take a corner table with my book and a small beer.
