Picture white powder sand on a beautiful scenic beach and you have found Kata Beach! Call it fate or a higher power but we continue to meet people who guide us on this journey. On the last day at Koh Samui an Englishman suggested this beach. We found The Boathouse Resort which is a bit expensive but just georgeous and right on the beach. Its wonderful to start the daywith breakfast overlooking the beach. The first night here we went to a restaurant on the beach steps away from our hotel. Another great meal for a steal! We ate there for most meals and the staff is real friendly. So true to form Jeff made a friend. George is a young guy, speaks English quite well and the two of them are very entertaining! Jeff's new nickname is now Mr Kado.....bald head! We did one shore dive and one long tail boat dive. Long tail dive was interesting to get in & out of the boat so didn't really like that part. Both dives had very poor visibility (3 meter)few fish but did see a small moray eal. The dive master said the poor visibility on shore dive was because of all the snorkels. So we did the boat dive the next day which was no different. There was lots of algae on the rocks and not much coral which the dive master said is because of the extremely warm water (80 degrees F) This is a real big issue and the Thai Govt has closed some dive sights because of this. But they continue to allow fishing because they tax the fisherman. Typical gov't making bad decisions....less fish it the worst decision. So we decided to go to Koh Phi Phi Don island in two days. Now we just need to meet someone who can give us some suggestions on where to stay......no problem! I just rely on my higher power to guide us. Will try to load more pics later.
