Well, I usually do a blog the night before I left or within a day of my arrival but things are quite different this time around. I think this trip has come around so quick this time, it surprised me!
Well, it was actually quite uneventful heading to the airport as Mark was dropping us off but not going… Not yet anyways.
Check in was okay. Btw you need to show a return ticket to leave Brisbane.. did you know that? I did not. That is all on that subject. ; )
Strategic was okay.. but after flying Air Asia I felt a bit blah. Honestly, after you have flown with Air Asia you kind of feel let down with every airline after. It
was not a bad experience but just prefer AA as their service is just unbelievable.
Okay, get on the plane.. get settled in. Seriously, cannot believe that I am flying with a baby.. Yes, it was interesting. I was stressed at points but what to expect. Kolton has had a pretty routine schedule since the get go.. and being on a plane and having to be on someones lap. I totally get
but I am pretty happy that the next flight will be with Air Asia. Oh and please tick that off of my list of challenges that I have conquered in my life. ; )
Kolton cried off and on the whole flight!! Wtf??? Seriously, the past few days he had been whingy but I never expected this. I am not talking the entire flight more like 5 minute stints here and there of 4 episodes! Let me tell you thought, we seriously felt like it was longer. We think it was a combination of his teeth and his ears. I was so thankful to have Ren and Zo with me but he refused to go with anyone but me, luckily we had some distractions. That child is heavy!! Ha. My back has been out since. Anyways, to put a loooooong story short.. WE ARRIVED!! Thank goodness for that!! YES!!
Okay, upon arrival to the immigration it was apparent that everyone that Thailand was going to be the pick for schoolies as there were so many teenagers!
We headed outside prepared to walk through customs and then realised customs was just a man standing by the door… LMAO.
Yep, it is official.. we are in Phuket!!
The wonderful humidity when you walk outside was bam in your face. It has been two years since I was last in Thailand and I honestly had missed it. Our driver was waiting for us and made a gesture.. said something and went running in the opposite direction. Renee looked at me as if to say what the? I laughed and said he has gone to go get the car… lets head over this way.
So we head out and wait.. just watching around us.
Anyways, get in the car and head out and remember I only had Australian cash on me!! So around we go again back to the airport. The conversion was really good. 29 baht to our dollar. So quite happy for that.
Anyways, we ventured off again to the hotel but classic, you cannot arrive in Phuket without a quick stop at 711. I left Ren with the kids whilst I ventured inside. Oh my, seriously love 711 in Asia!! I always spin out at the selection and how bloody cheap it all is. ; ) After purchasing a travel adapter, some dishwashing liquid, 4 Bacardi
breezers, 2 Smirnoff ice and Oreos and Milo for Zoe I was out the door with a big bag of goodies and it only cost me $14!!
YES. Welcome home to Asia Tams. ; )
I LOVED watching Renee’s reaction to the kaos that is Phuket. Her head was spinning from side to side and I was chatting with our awesome driver. Kolton was on my lap wide eyed and turning his head from side to side too and besides the constant grab for my Smirnoff… I think he was thinking of his Daddy then.. he was just taking it all in. ;) After some oreos and milo, Zoe retired to the last row in the mini bus and slept!! Classic Zoe, wake me when it gets interesting Mom…. I have been here before..; )
We arrived to this little alley that was typical of my favourite Thai little hotels.. Mind you this one had a steep driveway that bended around to bring you to the top of a beautiful building and was lit all the way up. It was gorgeous. In typical Thai fashion we were welcomed by staff and they treated us like
long lost friends. *One of the MANY MANY reasons why I love this little sought after places. They gave the kids both a gift and although tired Zoe managed to open hers and so did Kolton. He sleeps with a stuffed dog at home that he wraps his leg around but it was too huge to bring. This gift was a stuffed animal. I say animal as we are fighting over what exactly it is.. A bear? A beaver.. we are still not sure but it was in Koltons mouth and he loves it. It was such a nice touch to have something extra for the kids like that, especially when you are doing the check on and their focus is not on the waiting process.; ) To be honest though, this hotel is full of nice touches, thought out extras and a book that rivals all hotels. It explains so much and everything is so reasonably priced. We are in love. Cobblestones and lots of steps but it is awesome. Oh and then there is the hill. WOW! More on that one later. ; )
Upon arrival to our room we got to relax!! YES. Anyone that
has been on a flight knows what this is like. After putting the kids to bed we were quick to have a shower and order room service. What a surprise to find a menu that has pictures for every single dish and as thick as a bible! Also separate ice cream and cocktail menu. Yes, I am so watching portion size. Why is it that food tastes so much better on holidays? ; )
Everywhere you go at this hotel is relaxing music. Zoe called this Buddah music. Yes, I have since informed her that Buddah does not sing and no, he is not in a band! Ha. No seriously this added touch throughout this hotel has made us into soft talking relaxed people. Wow… Even Kolton fell asleep at the breakfast table this morning, By the way Marky, Zoe is having eggs with toast every morning. You have some running competition but so far she still says yours are the best. ; ) Btw since when has she liked bacon?
I know this is only the first day summary but had to get something up. As I am just getting relaxed should have the
next few days sorted in one blog within the next 24 hours but hey, if not.. I am on Thai time. Hope everyone is well. Btw Marky, we miss you heaps and love you. Think of you every moment and cannot wait till you arrive. Counting down the moments. Love Kolton, Zoe and your Tams. xx ; )
