Day 40

26th FEb 2009


early rise again again I know. 9am bus to catch you see, going to Phuket today. Have breakfast Just the one mind, pay for room owner forgets to charge us for the food we've had at dinner the other night big bonus...essentually he paid me to eat his food because he also gave us extra change. So travel day again...tuk-tuk to bus stop 4hr bumpy car sick bus journey to Phuket and 2km walk with backpacks on to the On On Hotel...apparently it's the hostel they used to film The Beach, the one Leonardo DiCaprio stays in in Bangkok ( not that I've watched the film so to me its just a hotel) ...but that means he was here probably touched the bed I lie on at night...good feeling ha ha! have some lunch and meet american couple, 40/50 ish...seem to meet a lot of the parent aged people ..where are the travellers?? Go for wonder round town and to the local food market get some fruit and then stop at cafe to get ice-cream milkshake. Then supermarket to get a snack on our walk (a big walk) Find som shops, weird clothes, find cinema-no good films, find McDonalds...I know again...we're drawn to it somehow, so obviously Mcd's have a lareg cheeseburger meal then nto satisfied we go for dinner at trendy little cafe that we've come across, have ciabatta and creme brulee. Then we seek out the nearest Irish barin an attempt to find some people our age, what we fnd is an older gay couple who habve no interest insocialising as they are "involved" with eachother in the corner, and about 20 or so young Thais who play pool and then fidn a corner to kiss in, our solution drink lots! o wine wine wine free cocktail shot some beer and some pool where I'm pretty sure by the end I was the only one who could aim/be bothered to play, all this accompanied by soem good old school Usher tunes he he . The bars shuts, me and Zoe go in search food and coem back with bread and a mars bar...so naturally mars bar sandwich, Katie and Caz get more alcohol and we hear them bashng and banging round the hallways of the hotel and crash through the door batetred and bruised from fallign over and both leap into my bed spoon and find a pillow in the form of my legs.


Day 41

27th feb 2009


me miraculous no hangover, lucky, Zoe little bit Caz and Katie (they foudn long island ice tea last night0 are HANGING! However, not wanting to waste the day we go for breakfast find heat magazine (perfect) and then venture to the bus stop to visit the beautiful beaches of Phuket. WE decide tha we won't go to the main beach as it is described as very touristy and instaed go to Kata beach. Spain is the only word to explain what the beach looked like, although the sea was a little more of a turquoise colour than spain it may as well have been any beach in europe, english everywhere, steak houses no thai food umbrella stretched from one end to the other, not a bit of thailand in sight, but we paid to get here so have another beach day. Midday sun faaaaaaaarrr too hot and can't even stay out in it, in fact Katie and Caz are asleep int eh shade in a matter of minutes and I'm int he sea. Have some lunch well over priced but hungry burger and chips as like I said no Thai in sight. Bus back to Phuket town wit nap for the journey. have nap at hotel too then search for food agian...its getting bad as all we do now is search for food and sight see later whoops. Go to tahi and get green curry noodles mmm spicy...and as you well know we are massive fatties so after that dinner we go back to McDonalds (not joking) and get another large burger meal then go to Swensons ice cream parlour and get ice-cream then go to 7/11 and get a magnum as well...F A T!!!! oh well why not if you can?
