Early morning update before we get the boat to Rai Leh
Arrived in Krabi 6pm last night. Beautiful views coming in of the limestone cliffs and the mountains. The airport (and our plane) was 90% tourist. Krabi is a relatively small town (~20,000 people) and mostly a jumping off point for beach destinations nearby. We checked into a new guesthouse, this time with no A/C. It was a bit of a sweaty night, but not too bad. Lots of noise from the streets though.
Everyone is feeling a little queasy today, probably just the food and heat catching up. Nothing too serious though. And yours truly feels fine. But karma will catch up to me eventually.
Once everyone is feeling well, we'll catch the boat to Rai Leh. Probably another update when we leave there and head to Ko Phi Phi. Here are some pictures, mostly from our trek up Doi Suthep.
Cheers,
Colin
WatEntrance to the temple on Doi Suthep
StepsThe steps that lead up to the temple.
chediThe golden chedi at the centre of the wat, surrounded by those golden umbrellas. There's a great story about this chedi, a white elephant, and relics of the Buddha.
ViewView of the mountains from a higher vantage point on Doi Suthep. The road here was very dodgy on a scooter.
PlantationThe coffee plantation near the top of the mountain.
GuyThe guy who serves coffee at the plantation. I suppose he's technically a barrista?
HousesThe buildings surrounding the plantation. You can stay here for $5 a night.
CoffeeEnjoying a coffee after a long ride. It was delicious.
BeerEnjoying a nice cold beer that night at dinner.

Me again! I went to Ko Phi Phi when I was there and it was great. We rented kayaks & snorkel gear, and took off around the island... found these little private beaches and snorkelled all around on our own.... so incredible!! Sigh... Wish we were there with you guys!
Are you going to try to get to Cambodia? Definitely worth the trip if you have time!!!
