What an Achievement!

Kay and I are now qualified Open Water Divers! Can you believe! We completed the course this afternoon and we went down to 21 metres! Saw loads of fishes and I found Nemo!!!!!!
The course was quite easy and too the point no faffing around. We did 2 dives yesterday and 2 today. We did a lot of skills in the pool on the 2nd day and I thought I had got away with not doing the swimming test ( arrggghhh) but low and behold we had to do it yesterday. Luckily we could do any stroke we liked so I just took it easy on my back. We had to swim out quite far, everyone did laps over me but I got out there in the end- kay waiting out there for me, bless her, but I had some trouble getting back. I can't swim in a straight line! It took me twice the amount of time to get back as it did to get out there. I kept on swimming in zig zag and I almost swam into a boat! but Kay saved the day came back for me and directed me as I couldn't see much lying on my back. When I got out of the water I realised that I had been using a boat that was out at sea as my reference point- I guess this is where the problem was! I provided the group and I am sure the rest of the beach with some afternoon entertainment but most importantly I did it, didn't panic even with the thought of a boat running me over and passed the swimming test!

2 weeks ago the longest I had been in the water for was about 10 minutes over the past 3 days I have been underwater for about 6 hours!

So tonight we see the video in the bar of our dive which shoudlbe cheesey but entertaining! We are staying for another day or 2, going back to KPN, over to Samui for a day or 2 and then we are off to Malaysia! I can't believe we have been in Thailand for 4 weeks now, the time has just flown by, our journey in Asia is almost over.....
