The hospital doctor had given me the all clear to fly but the travel insurance doctors disagreed. They prescribed more rest.
The hotel was lovely. I managed a couple of swims in the pool, although it is rainy season here and there have been constant storms. The peels of thunder were the longest and loudest that I remember hearing and while this was exciting for a while, it became dull very quickly.
Because everywhere was constantly wet, the mosquitos were out in full force and I was being eaten alive again. Eventually, the travel insurance people agreed that this was counter productive and signed off a shorthall flight to Bangkok. This had multiple benefits as it got me out of the rain, away from the mosquitos and so reducing the risk of falling to Dengue again and also allowed me to collect my suitcase that I had left at Joey's while I was at the 'beach'!
I flew up to Bangkok on the 24th and was met by a driver with my name on a card. Well, almost my name - no-one ever spells it right anyway so I didn't mind! Lol! He took me to Joey's to collect my bag and then on to the Radisson. Again the travelling had taken it out of me so when I got to the desk to check in and was told I was in the wrong place I just wanted to give up. You know me though! I was whisked off to the executive check in where I was sat down with a drink to relax while they prepared all my paperwork and then showed me to my room.
I HAVE A BATH!!!!! For those of you who don't appreciate that comment, I could live in the bath. I would happily disappear for days in a hot bath with ice cold wine and a good book. After 2 months of cold showers, this was my biggest luxury so far!
