HammockThe hammock at our place in Ko Phagnan snapped while I was lying in it.
I hope everyone appreciates the frequent updates. Today we had to go to two different places, got a virus (i think), got electrocuted (weird voltage through the usb port or something) and had to step over a fat thai lady who was watching weird thai soap operas. Not sure if the pictures will get uploaded, but i'll try
So today is our last day on the islands, we fly back to Bangkok tonight at 10pm. Left Ko Phagnan on the 21st, while Mark and Krystle stayed behind so Mark could do his 4 day diving certification. Took a ferry that was definitely beyond capacity for about an hour to this island, Ko Samui. The travel guides list it as a "boutique" island, lots of rich tourists and the like. A bit of a change from the backpacker ghetto of Ko Phagnan.
Got off at the pier and took a short taxi ride to our beach, Bo Phut. Loved the place right away, much more laid back than Ko Phagnan and less of a feeling of being a white person herded around. That's not to say there aren't tons of travellers here, because there are. Mostly european, mostly French, mostly

couples. This is the "romantic" beach.
Checked into a bungalow near the beach, wandered the Fisherman's Village section (amazing selection of bars and restaurants, though a bit pricey by Thai standards), had a few drinks, went swimming. The usual. Last night went for another amazing Italian meal at a place run by a German expat who chatted us up one night on the street. It was probably the most stereotypically romantic setting we've ever been in, so much so, it made us burst into laughter at several points (like when the host started to sing "I Can't Help Falling In Love With You). The night ended with us watching people set paper ballons into the air while lightning streaked across the sky in the distance. A damn nice end to our beach adventures.
Tonight we're heading back to Bangkok for 3 nights. Planning to see a bit more of the city than we did on our arrival. And we're going to a nice, airconditioned movie theatre. Apparently you can get a VIP ticket, which gives you access to huge couches and table service. Should be fun. Probably one more update from Bangkok before we leave.
Cheers,
Colin

Hemingway'sI don't think Hemingway ever made it to Ko Samui, but we were happy to drink some Mojitos in his honour.
Bar CatCats (and dogs) are everywhere on the islands. They make themselves right at home in all of the restaurants.

You guys are some of the funnest people I know. Was Leonardo there on the beach? Did you run off and join a secret community on the island? What is that green stuff next to the croissant?
So glad I found this site! Wish I knew about it sooner. Hi Sea!
