Today it was overcast again for the third day running so we decided to go out for the day on the moped. We passed a snake farm and it had just started to rain a bit so we went inside. It cost 300B each but we thought we would give it a whirl.
We watched an hour long show with cobras and scorpions. The brave show men or crazy depending on how you view it, put scorpions on their face, in their mouth and even down there pants!
I kept well back in the crowd when they brought the snakes around for viewing many people where putting them around their necks you see, not the cobras obviously but the non poisonous variety.
After all the excitement we took a short trip around the mini zoo. They had a lot of dead snakes in jars for viewing which I thought was a bit odd they seemed to have more dead snakes than alive I hope that’s not a reflection on there zoo keeping skills, it certainly was not the best zoo I have seen. I have broken my own rule today which is never to go to zoos abroad because more often
than not the animals are not kept in very good conditions. We ended the tour looking at the outdoor pens and saw crocodiles and monitor lizards.
We then went for a jaunt around the countryside which was beautiful so much wide open space. We eventually found ourselves in a temple in one of the villages. We where looking for another mummified monk like the one we saw at the start of the holiday, but this one was a joke it was made out of concrete.
The temple was very rustic and run down and I think they where desperate to make some sort of attraction and tried to copy the other temple’s ideas. The temple grounds where very peaceful anyway and it made a good pit stop for us.
In the same village as the temple they had a cracking little beach with a nice hammock to sit in and watch the ocean. So a perfect ending to a really good day out.
