Okay, guess it's the 24th today. We rented a jeep with 2 other people staying at the same hostel and cruised along the island. It has been a long day and might I add a stressful one too. A little too stressful...
The day started off with us arriving at the rental place and the guy saying that we needed to wait for the jeep to be repaired. Fine. So then when we started the car it was already in gear and drove off without anyone in it!! What a bloody good start to the day...
Then we drove up to a gas station (coz you get the car on empty) for gas but later on realized that the lady did not put the cap back on. So yeah, we've been driving around all day in the blazing heat with the gas tank exposed to the elements.
Two things about today really made my day. One we finally got to go swimming on a quiet beach and in clear, calm waters. That felt REALLY good. Second, mum and dad called my thai cell # and got to speak to them for a bit. Miss you guys! Ok, ok
I guess going swimming at the waterfalls was really good too...except that everyone else was not really wanting to go in the water. The 30 minute hike up was exciting though...nothing like a good ol hike to make you realize how out of shape I am...ah well I'm working on it.
So we drove into Chewang beach for dinner and it was pretty fun except for the fact that we were all tired and I was being quiet and sullen...
I don't know if Huong2 and I will be travelling together for very long more. Since we've been on this island it feels like we've been drinking and shooting the shit with a bunch of foreigners. Some cool and some not. I'm dying for a good book, some solitude and perhaps a friend who will listen to me rant on and on. Coz it doesn't feel like I've been able to do that since the start of this trip.
Over all...while it has been fun and exciting, I find myself wondering if this is really what I want to get out of this trip? Do I really want to be in Thailand sitting on a porch, drinking
beer all day and making fun of the Thai accent? Or complaining about how smelly it is here? Err, I think not. Again it just makes me so mad to see all the tourists coming here pretending like they own this land and that the thai people exist for the very purpose of making them banana or mango shakes.
While Huong2 isn't as bad as many poeple we've met, bits and pieces (which for the sake of integrity I shall not mention) are really beginning to get to me. Not to say that I'm easy to travel with or that she is super difficult but maybe we just need some time apart. We've been in each other's faces for almost a month now and almost for 24 hours a day.
So it's time for me to weigh the pro and cons of packing up my stuff and taking off on the next bus headed north...on my lonesome.

Hello, boy...The owners here are sweet and put up with a lot...except for that one night...
