Up again pre-dawn (this is getting to be habit!) We headed out to Chiang Mai Airport at about 5:30 AM (AGAIN with the 5:30 wake-ups) to catch our flight to Bangkok and then on to Phuket (pronounced ‘Poo-Ket,’ not another way like some of you cheeky monkeys may think) to catch our boat to Phi Phi Island (prounounced ‘Pee Pee’ and, yes, now you CAN get your minds out of the gutter) for the official Honeymoon phase of our travels.
Trip was fairly uneventful…arrived in gloriously hot Phuket around 10 AM and were greeted by the hotel driver…a true character unto himself. Just imagine what you’d get if you crossed a Thai Herve Villachaise with Nathan Lane in The Birdcage. Glad we finally got to meet some family on this trip, but the joy was short-lived once we realized his offer for a free massage had nothing to do with his generosity or a Phi Phi Island Village hotel perk.
Best part of this leg of our travels was meeting Andy, our new friend from San Francisco. She had just finished up a 2-week sojourn in Bhutan (boy are we jealous!) and was heading to Phi Phi, like us,

for some R&R. So glad to meet another beautiful human being on this trip—seems every city we go to we find one person who we know will remain a lifelong friend. Thank God for Andy, as we found lots of conversation to fill the almost 3 hour wait for our speedboat out to the island.
We departed Phuket Harbor around 1:30 PM to the final leg of this wonderous journey and to finally have some time to do absolutely nothing.
David made it the whole way without feeling even a tad nauseous (which is a true accomplishment if any of you know him well.) Billy is almost convinced that David is actually enjoying being on boats now. Hmm…sailing trip anyone? Bueller…?
We pulled up to our dream-like resort, Phi Phi Island Village, after about an hour’s journey on the open sea. There’s not much to say except that this place is paradise defined. You’ve never seen such crystal-clear, brilliant, emerald green water in your life! The pictures seriously cannot even do it justice. You keep pinching yourself every other minute to remind you that yes, indeed, you actually ARE in this place. Needless to say, we’re over-the-moon
happy and know it’s going to take more than mountain to get us to leave here.
Keeping today’s entry a bit short, as we’re off to the pool and get sun on the brian and to soak in the sweetness of being alone together in this fairy-tale fantasy! We’ll leave you with a bunch of photos (DON’T BE JEALOUS!!!!!!)
Headin' OutLeaving Phuket Harbor, on our way to Phi Phi Island!
New FriendsDavid with our new friend Andy. David made it the whole way to Phi Phi without hurling. We are so proud of him!
View from our deckIf you could wake up to this every morning, you'd never leave. And neither are we. Seriously...if you don't hear from us again, this is why.
Takin' a dipA quick dip in the ocean in front of the hotel. It's literally about 85 degrees warm. Repeat again: OH MY GOD!
