Rano to zas vyzeralo bledo s pocasim. Len vodu, coca colu a nanuk. Semtam vykuklo aj slnko. Zaplaval som si,zobral uterak a lahol si na plaz. Po 2 hodinach som siel do restiky, kde nikoho. Planoval som zhruba filipiny a vybavil par mailov a skypoval s mami. Vecer ... read more

Day 14 To no surprise, we were back starting our day with a gorgeous complimentary breakfast spread. However, this staff was unaware of our necessity for a plethora of drinks. About 5 drinks a piece later and full bellies, we were ready for the beach. We took in some ample sun time and then headed out to explore the twin coves. We climbed a few rocks, walked the stretch of one beach, sweated to no end, and applied and reapplied some serious deet - straight Kemper style. Kemper is deathly afraid of malaria and dengue fever and never leaves a hotel room without ample amounts of deet on and to reapply. Lindsay thinks she is crazy but always thanks her later. We arrived at the end of the first cove and had to back road it ... read more

Day 13 After one of the worst nights of sleep yet to experience, we quickly pull our things together to get the hell out of there. One big obstacle though, it was monsoon'ing. Was it the sanctuary telling us not to leave. Was it one of the many goddesses giving us a sign? Well we weren't falling for it. We knew that these city girls couldn't handle another night of "wanna be" hippie life. We wanna be the type of gypsy's that wander in style and we had to listen to the inner Linz and Kemp. So we grabbed our oversized backpack and headed to the "lobby" without help from a friendly bellhop. We approached the front desk and told one of the Thai hippies that checked us in the day prior that we needed to ... read more

Day 12 Goodbye Anantara Lawana, Ko Samui. We will miss you. We packed up our bags and hit the road to our neighboring island, Ko Pha-Ngan. After much debate on where to stay we decided to switch things up and try something new. No more posh 5 star resort for us, we opted for a secluded beach hut at a yoga, meditation, and detox center called The Sanctuary. We had heard great things about this place and we were ready to "experience" what everyone was talking about. Here was the portion of our trip where we would meditate, do some yoga, possibly have a spiritual awakening. And this was the place to do all of those things. Sanctuary does not even take reservations because people are known to check in for 2 days and stay for ... read more

Yo! After half a days travel including two buses and one boat we finally arrived in Koh Phangan, two days ahead of schedule. We got a taxi to our hostel, The Dancing Elephant, where we met back up with Ollie the lad from leeds, and met our hostel owner, David (Crazy french guy will get to more of this later). He sat us down with the other new arrivals; Luke & Ellie a couple from Birmingham, Jess from Peterborough and Madras/Madris some dude from Singapore, along with Ollie and ourselves for a quick debrief about the do's & don'ts of the island plus many pointers, as our hostel gets discount at a few places; food/drink. Crazy Small World again, we bumped into Sam Morgan who was staying at the same hostel as us with a few ... read more

The only motive of going to Koh Phangan was the famous beach party - Full Moon Party, which happens on the night of full moon every month! Instead of taking flight to Koh Samui (fast yet expensive way to the party), flying to Surat Thani by AirAsia will definitely a good choice for budget travellers. Then, step out of the arrival hall of Suratthani Airport, there will be a booth by Phantip Travel (if no mistaken) selling combo ticket to Koh Phangan at 550THB (incuding Bus and Ferry). Without hesitation, we bought the tickets and jumped into the bus that waited outside of the airport. It took us around 1.5 hours to the jetty (Don Sak Pier). When we got there, we weren't sure about which way to go to our ferry. Well no worries, there's ... read more

Haad Salad Beach Well it’s my birthday so the budget gets thrown out for a few days and we stay at Buri Salad resort with our own pool, loungers, swing and suite for 3 nights. It was just fantastic we spend most of our days relaxing in our room surroundings and dining on the beach eating banana pancake with chocolate sauce, ice cream and whipped cream – hey it’s my birthday! We stayed at Salad Hut last time we visited and I never forgot their fantastic pancakes. There are a few mini marts out the back so we spent 20 minutes comparing prices to save NZ$1 on a large bottle of beer. Well, I mean, what else is there to do? The beach sat at low tide all day, it’s a nice beach but nothing to ... read more
