Hi Loyal Followers, We had a good night sleep in this dorm (with just us in it)- makes the £2/night/person feel like a real bargain! So after talking to the German guy who works in the hostel, he circled lots of things on a map to do around the island. So today we had decided to drive up the west coast to visit Haad Son and Haad Yao beach, two beautiful, deserted, white sand beaches; with hammocks and swings. Afterwards we headed to the northwest reaches of the island to Koh Ma-this was the most impressive beach/island, as the island is reached by a strip of sand that the water washes up over on both sides. We did some snorkeling here too. Not brilliant as the visibility isn’t great, but the water is warm and clean ... read more

Hey all, So today we are leaving Krabi to go to the beautiful Koh phangan. I have been before so very excited to see it again. We got picked up at 0630 (yes very early) and headed to the bus depot to join the big bus to Surat Thani, where the ferry port is!!! The journey there was about 3-1/2 hours but was good as the seat reclined back so had a nice nap and enjoyed the views. Once there we were headed in to areas depending where your ferry was going, our was stoping in Koh Samui first!!! After about 2 hours we finally arrived in Koh Phangan!! WOO HOO. It's so amazing here, We love it!! We got in a group taxi to our hostel. It's so quiet here as it was a full ... read more

So we arrived in Bangkok yesterday after a long flight via Deli....both flights were an experience to say the least. However we did sleep most of the time. We got a taxi once we landed in Bangkok to take us to our Hotel.....Nasa Vegas (which Lauren thought was called Never Vegas.....bloody blondes!!!!!) We paid 800 baht for the taxi which is about £16.......at the time we thought this was good, we found out today we was actually ripped off! Note to selves....friendly thai man telling us about his family and telling us all the sights is a con man - the taxi should have been 350 baht.....lesson well learnt!......to make it worse we bloody tipped him aswell! Anyway back to the Hotel.......we was both slightly concerned as we paid £5.50 each for the 1 night, we ... read more

So who's brilliant idea was it to take a day trip to Ayutthaya and then take an over night train/bus/boat combination down to Koh Phangyam? Oh well we survived it and and it was wild. To start off we took a sweaty hot train 3rd class train ride about 1.5 hours to Ayathaya, I think it was about 30 miles and we probably could have walked faster then the train but oh well, Ethan loved the train, he got to stand up and look out the window and yell at everything, it was a toddlers delight! He wasn't so thrilled about all the Thai grandma's on the train that had never seen such delightful curly blond hair, and at one point had captured him and were combing his hair :) yes we took pics and video. ... read more

The latter stages of my first ever Moon Party was something I’ll never be able to remember, but all I know is that I had a really great time and fantastic experience! Of course if you stay off the cheap Thai whiskey buckets you will be able to recall more of it than me :) I arrived by ferry from the nearby island of Koh Samui in the morning and was directed to my hotel by a friendly Tuk Tuk driver. The island seemed to be busy already even though the official party was two nights away, and plenty of people were lined on the Sunrise Beach where the main celebrations take place. Haad Rin Beach The hotel was pretty decent for the price I paid and because it was so full at this time of ... read more

Hey all, wow just worked out we're on week 31 of our travels, and I'm currently writing from a coffee shop in a large busy supermarket near the main town of Thong Sala on Koh Phangan, hiding away from the heat again due to the AC in here! I swear it's getting hotter... or at least more humid... the rainy season has began here in Thailand, we had a downpour this morning whilst we were having breakfast, it's a nice break from the heat and reminded us of our first few weeks in Goa... the monsoons will be over there again by now! We've had a busy week here in Koh Phangan, starting last Friday coming over from Samui which took about an hour and was chock a block with young backpackers heading over to Phangan ... read more

So another two weeks down and so many adventures had. We had landed in Malaysia and were staying at this little guesthouse in Langkawi, it was quite away from everywhere, but it was quite nice. The owners there were super lovely and arranged for us to. Hire a car for the day. There were these cable cars in the island that went on a 2.2km ride up a 700mt hill, it was amazing. The ride up was spectacular, if not a little scary. It is definitely not one for those with hight issues it starts off pretty fast, and climbs quite high as you head strait towards a very steep rock face which you launch up. You seem to be climbing at about a 70 degree angle, it is quite daunting and it pays not to ... read more

Having heard many close friends share their experience going to the world famous Full Moon Party on Haad Rin Beach, Koh Phangan, Thailand we decided that it was about time to experience it for the first time. Since the demand for flights to Surat Thani was quite high as it often is before the Full Moon Party, we decided to fly into Hat Yai with Air Asia. From there we took a bus north up to Surat Thani. Prior to this trip, we anticipated that Surat Thani would be the typical bland connection city which serves frequent bus routes to the ocean piers serving Koh Phangan, Koh Samui and Koh Tao among other places. Although it didn’t have major tourist attractions, it turned out to be a worthwhile stop and rather un-touristy in comparison to other ... read more

It's been near impossible to update the blog over the last week or so. I now write from the breezy Thai island of Ko Pha-Ngan, the bright turquoise surf splashing just past the restaurant to my right. I'm here with 7 mates from home who are here for the Full Moon Party, which took place a couple of nights ago. In between drinking, hangovers, beach walks and general indulgence in the Thai island lifestyle, I've finally found time to run this one off now. Back to Cambodia, where I believe I left off with a report of Phnom Penh's Killing Fields. Marc and I decided we'd like to spend some more time in Cambodia, while the others decided to rush off to Bangkok to meet Hodgey and Jordan off their flights from the UK. This proved ... read more

Between the 24th - 26th June, Sarah, Nina, Adrian, Fran, Jamie & I found Leela Beach Resort. Walking down to the resort it was a beautiful sunny day and reaching the beach I felt this big release of happiness and freedom. Smiling from ear to ear. We checked into our little bungalows on the beach and pretty much chilled out for a few days. I needed a few days of doing nothing.... read more
