Dear Thailand Mini-bus Driver,
Did you have a rough sleep last night? I only ask because it looks like you're on your third Thai redbull and your hands are starting to shake. I know what it's like to not get much sleep and then have to drive a far distance the next day, tough stuff. Perhaps thats why you seem to be driving our mini-bus at speeds in excess of 130 km/h average. Maybe you don't realize that when you pass on a solid yellow line there's most likely going to be cars coming at you from the other side, maybe you're too tired to notice. I just wanted to remind you that one: you're not Dale Ernhardt, nor are you Ayrton Senna, nor are you Greg Moore, regardless of how fast you drive us 11 passengers in your van you're still not a racecar driver! Although if you continue to go at this pace maybe we'll all end up like those three tragic speed men. It also seemed like you were in a big hurry to get us to our Ferry on the dock of Suratthani, maybe we were running late!! Wouldn't want to be late. But it seems we sat for two and a half hours at the dock waiting for the ferry anyway. hmmm.... so I wonder now, why were you driving like a complete lunatic? In fact, why do most people here drive like absolute fools? I saw my first dead body earlier this trip, poor guy on a moped, and it suprised me that it was the first.
I think it was around the time you were trying to pass a semi-truck that I wished I had flew to Ko Samui instead. I'm not sure if you saw it but our lane was ending quickly with construction, but you just barelled on, ignoring the laws of physics, in your attempt to pass him. Almost colliding with his giant flank made me, for the first time in my life, wish I was in the air.
So perhaps in the future you should warn your passengers they might want to have different transportation. I know there's a really good chance that you believe that even if we crash you're going on to a better place than this anyway, maybe that explains the driving, but I am almost certain we wouldn't be going anywhere.
So in the future, do me a favor and drive like you're and Atheist instead of an asshole!
Sincerely,
Mitch

We are glad you made it through this part of your adventure......that which does not kill us makes us stronger haha!!! Seriously it is nice to hear about this kind of thing....after the fact!
OK at this moment....Your dad is reviewing the highlights of tonights FLAMES GAME!! I am typing. Here is his comment "6-3 Flames ...life is good. Glad you survived your Taxi ride..travelling in other countries is not like travelling at home. That is part of the risk and the adventure!"
Be safe...love you!
Hey Mitch, I was just laughing at how many time I experienced this exact same thing on my trip. There is no hurry, the boats are always late, and still they drive like hell to get everywhere! I hope you are having a great trip. I look forward to hearing more. I love you and I miss you.
Alicia
Missing you buddy. Your letter made me smile. You don't have to remind me...Flames have come out of the gate with more ferociousness than my beloved 'Nuckers...however, remember who protected you. Keep on rocking, my friend. There are a bunch of horror films coming out that I really want to see with you (read: Paranormal Activity, Anti Christ, The Fourth Kind, Nightmare on Elm Street!!!).
Love you man!
