Tuesday November 11th - Today we moved to the larger island of Ko Pha Ngan. It is only 35km south of Ko Tao and took about an hour and a half by ferry. As we left Ko Tao, most of the roads were under water and we decided that if the weather continues like this then we will move on again quickly even though we have paid for 5 nights in advance. Once we arrived on the island we were shown to our bungalow. I'd say it's more of a shed than a bungalow. It has a bed in it. And that's really about it. No air con. No TV. This wouldn't matter but if it rains the TV is the only option. There is a room attached to our 'shed' with a shower and a toliet in it but the toilet doesn't have a flush, you have to just 'please put some water in it thanks'.
It rained for the whole of the first day. Eventually i got bored so went for a walk to the town. It's only a few minutes away but i couldn't take the most direct route as that way was under water. Not much
else happened today although i did see a frog get squashed by a jeep. Then i went to bed.
Woohoo! It's been dry for 2 days in a row now! It's now Friday 14th November. On the night of the 12th we went to the full moon party on the eastern corner of the island. I was unable to get any pictures as i left anything of any worth such as my camera behind at the resort to save losing it and i can't remember much as i was too drunk but it was a crazy night. We went with some irish guys but they had a really thick accent so i had no idea what they were saying. Probably talking about Father Ted or Ray Houghton or something. I soon lost these though and everyone else i knew so returned home to find i was locked out and had to kip on the hammock outside until people returned. Somebody stole this hammock the next day. Bastards.
The day after the full moon was obviously lost as i stayed in bed most of the day, as did pretty much everyone in the resort. I always see this as
a good thing though as a days budget is saved. Today, to make up for it i went off trekking on my own, leaving Nance to try and burn herself again. I went off in search of waterfalls in the mountains and forests but despite walking and climbing for hours i couldn't find them. Still, i did get to some fantastic viewpoints looking down on the island and came back with a brilliantly burnt face. We leave here on Sunday morning and head south again to the island of Koh Samui. It is only a 20 minute ferry ride. I'll update more then as tomorrow will be spent sunbathing and watching endless amounts of football in the evening. Good times!
No wait! Things didn't go as i'd planned. I returned from my trek intent on relaxing for the evening and was delighted to see that most people had checked out and gone home. So i had the pool to myself and went swimming. By this point Nance had met two guys from Leicester and they invited us out for a few drinks with them and 3 other girls they'd met earlier in the day. A few quiet drinks led
to a few more and before we knew it, it had become light outside so we waited up until 9am for breakfast and then i spent another day sleeping.
