Edit Blog Post
So its definetly been a while since I updated this thing! Ive been much too busy sun bathing to write the blog..haha..
So last time I had written we were getting ready to depart from the beautiful Phi Phi island! So we left by ferry and headed to Ao Nang pier and then got a long tail boat to Railay. We found the hotel with no problems. It was hot when we arrived. We got into our room and had a few minor problems- Peter blocked the toilet (Well I slag him that he did), the Air-Con wasn’t working and then the safe decided to lock with all our belongings in it! So we got upgraded to a fancy room- Great!! So we spent from the 14th to 19th December on this part of the island. Basically, there are 2 parts where tourists hang-out. The East and West. The West is where the nice beach is and where the more expensive up- market hotels are. The East is where we stayed. There is literally 5 or 6 restaurants, and a few bars in Railay. Its really quiet and laid back. Neither Peter or I were that fussed on this place. It
was just too boring. The days passed relatively slowly as there was nothing happening. We mostly lay around the pool each day and then went to the beach for a few hours. In our hotel, most of the receptionists were ladyboys but they were so nice and would have done anything for you.
On December 19th, we departed by long tail boat from Railay to Krabi town, or so we thought! When we got off at the pier, we found out our hotel was actually in Ao Nang town, a short distance from Krabi…oops! So we stayed in this town for 4 days until 22nd. This place was a lot busier than Railay. We spent our days walking around and enjoying a coffee and bun from Starbucks! The beach in this place was not very nice at all, despite there being lots of people on it. It was not a sand beach, it was like crushed shells so wasn’t very pleasant to walk or lie on. Our hotel was very central and at night the clubs were right next to the hotel so we were awake very late.
Early on December 22nd, we departed Ao Nang and headed for Samui.
We were getting a 2 hour private bus to Donsak pier and then the ferry across to Koh Samui. Unfortunately, travel days are long, boring and we always find ourselves waiting!! So around lunchtime, we arrived to our hotel, got checked in as ‘Tour Guides’ to get a special discount and were taken to our room! Or shall I say our beach bungalow. Rooms were small and were not exactly on the beach but the hotel was still impressive and had what looked like its own private beach. We had booked 7 nights in this place and boy we were glad to stay in the one place for that length of time! So today is December 27th, we have been here 5 days and have celebrated Christmas here also.
The hotel is quite a bit from the main town, 10 minutes taxi drive, so we decided to rent a scooter which has been a great investment! We have been nipping around and going here there and everywhere!!haha. The 23rd the weather was so bad, we were at breakfast when it began raining (9.30am) and it continued all day and through the night and I mean torrential rain! Since that the
weather has been so amazing. Sunny and hot, we couldn’t ask for better! On Christmas Eve, we went to the famous ‘Bar Ice’ in Samui. It’s a bar which is all made of ice. It has ice chairs, ice glasses, lots of sculptures made from ice and is normally kept at the temperature of -7 degrees. Before we went in, the bar girls, wrapped us up in gloves, big long hooded coats and a big furry hat. You’ll see what I mean from the photos! We got 2 drinks, I downed mine because it was disgusting, lets just say, my head was very ‘fuzzy’ for a few hours after! Haha.. When we got back to the hotel that night, they had put stockings on our headboard and left us little teddys and biscuits! Chuffed… We have had some really nice meals, including our Christmas day dinner in Tropical Murphys Irish Bar. It was just what the doctor ordered! Today, we went for a long drive to another town and seen the famous ‘Genitalia’ rock. We also went to an elephant trek and waterfall attraction. We didn’t ride the elephants but we hiked up to the waterfall and it was so
beautiful! Well worth the walk in the belting heat! Apart from that, we just lie on the beach all day and then do a few lengths in the pool at night! Even Peter is swimming!! The sea is good fun because its so rough and it throws you about and we have had lots of laughs in it!
We depart on December 29th to stay with Roisin in Singapore. Cannot wait to spend New Years Eve in Singapore. My expectations are very high!
