I'm not sure if I mentioned in the last blog that I had a buddy join me, but Kara, a friend of a friend, met me my second night in town. We have been kickin it ever since then, and we moved from the mall area of Bangkok to Khoasan Road midweek. Khoasan Road is crazytown. Pure craziness. There are venders everywhere. It's hot, sweaty, and people try to sell you something every three feet. It was really fun while it lasted, but I was ready to move on.
We had a long train ride that lasted last night and into half of today. I expected to be uncomfortable, but the ride was so nice with the windows open and the breeze coming in. We saw lots of villages with goats and mules and all kinds of crazy temples along the way. The mountains were gorgeous. We also met a girl from NC on the train.
Tonight we are staying in a swanky guess house that has me wondering how it costs ten dollars a night. We have internet (obviously), free breakfast, and a hot shower (which I haven't had in a week). The ground are really beautiful and tropical looking, and all the furniture is made of this really neat dark wood.
I plan on scoping out Chiang Mai today. I hope I like it as much as Bangkok.
Sorry to all of you on my email list for not emailing anything. I don't have the addressing and google wouldn't save them on a listerv for me. Martha, could you email me your email address? My address is emily.meineke@gmail.com. Also, could you print these blogs and show them to Mimi? Thanks :)
