Well was collected from guesthouse on Soi Rambrutti by a van and taken to Don Muang Airport for my flight to Chiang Rai. Uneventful flight and went to taxi desk at airport ( after collecting luggage from prettiest carousel ever) and gave them name of guesthouse. Had to pay 200baht at the desk which saved any chance of being ripped off by driver

Got to guesthouse found myself In a shared dorm room with 2 blokes. One was from Taiwan and pleasant enough but he did not stop talking lol

Dumped my stuff and went to explore. First impressions were of a smaller Chiang Mai, Was beginning not to feel too well though- burning with fever dizzy and queasy so rather than go back to Mr Talkalot in the room I sat and sipped a coke in a bar and chilled out after having watched the overboard sound and light show on the clock tower at 8pm

Woke up next morning and felt much better so popped into a local café to have breakfast. Got talking to a guy called Toby then walked down to bus station and caught a bus to Chiang Khong on the Laos border. Bus took 2.5 hours including a couple of stops for the driver to deliver parcels to various people enroute and another stop where 3 sacks of carrots were loaded on, the driver handed 20b and they travelled with us all the way to Chiang Khong

I was surprised on arriving at CK as it looked a lot bigger than expected. A Tuk tuk took us down to the port where immigration etc was so took some pics there and wandered back up planning to visit the Hub Pub which looked really good on facebook. Unfortunatly it wasn't open during lunchtime when I got there so popped in the Brittania next door and had a sandwich and coke

took pictures of various Wats the wandered back up to bus stop to get the 3pm bus back to Chiang Rai
