Ysss.. It's all happening.
I've rocked out in the orphanage for about a week now. Am all settled down and cool with everything from the insanely spicy food (including breakfast), the ants & scorpions, the squat "toilets" the dirt, the gear on the scooter, the massive truck to the little kids' mischief and all that jazz.
An example of a normal day, lets take yesterday. This is what happened before breakfast. (Nota bene, BEFORE breakfast) We drove the kids to school, first day after their summer holiday. They were all excited in their little uniforms and wanted me to drive them at 6:30, even tho they dont start until 8! The truck is old, ugly, big and the best toy ever. Anyway, drove to all schools and dropped the founder of the org, Carol, who is here to visit off in town. Got back home and found two little mischievious boys who'd run home from school so took em back but realised soon that they didnt actually belong to school.
A common problem amongst hill tribe kids (which they all are at the centre) is that the Thai government doesnt recognise them as citizens, so they dont
get an ID. That means they cant go to school, get a driving license, go to hospital, even leave this province. Sick. Anyway, these kids were not registered in school cause of this. Had to drive and get Carol, jump in the car, drive to the end of the road and get fuckin hit by another stupid car. Dear me! So had to deal with an angry thai man and loadsa curious viewers for ages. Then someone called the Police and I realised I didnt have my driving license and that the car prob was registered in the organisations name and shit so I did a runner. Payed the driver what he wanted (15 quid, a joke, the damage on his car was pretty big) and left haha. Mustve been a pretty funny sight, some white stupid girl in a big ass van and a little thai in a little car, arguing in the middle of the street.
Then spent two hours with the head mistress of the school just watching Carol negotiating these little minority hill tribe kids in to the system and school. Impressive. I bet the feeling I had is the feeling people have watching big

This girl is absolutely stunning!
Playin about at home. Needless to say, I sucked.
decisions being made in Bush's office or something. Except this is cooler. A LOT cooler. ITs amazing I actually get to experience all this, Carol is a legend. The work she has done in this world has had such a massive impact on peoples lives. Did I say that she has worked in the White House, had a TV show for 10 years, been an INternational school president, is responsible for about 4000 kids lives in different centres all over the world and she knows the names of all of them. She has projects and work going on everywhere with peace centres, education centres, orphanages, sex slaves, different minorites. Is involved with the maffia, the slum, hidden tribes, famine feeds.. the list goes on. She has had so many kids die in her arms, friends and family die from the work she has done. she has sacrificed her life, her family, everything to help. When u know all this its pretty damn amazing to find urself crawling on the floor with her playing with the kids :)
Anyway, the head mistress looked like the evil Korean dictator in Team America. It made the two hours pass quicker.
So, after
my round trip in town, being in a car crash, fighting for two little kids I went home to have breakfast.
Thats how the story goes really. On sunday we're gona drive up to one of the hill tribe villages to bring back a little girl from the centre who is being held by the evil men in the village who are using her for uncool stuff. THe sex industry here in Thailand is sick and the poorer they get the worse it is. Pooo. So many things ive learnt upset me, but at the same time this is such a rad experience and i havent been bored once.
Maybe I should write about funner stuff? There are loads of little dogs here. And the kids hair are amazing. The food is so good ive developed eating disorders to be able to fit it all in. (ok, its not that bad but still)
Next week im trekking up to Laos to see Luke and Pat to rock out with them in some cool tree houses. The Gibbon experience its called. (Sabine, tell Ian so he can go all jealous hehe)
Then its back to OZ, gona have
to find a flat and a job and stuff. Im a 100% bum haha!
Take care everyone, keep me ze posted yeah!?
