Hello!
Well I've been scolded by my granny for not writing in awhile so I figured I'd better get to it =). Yes, of course I am still in Chiang Mai. Went to get my Visa extended for 7 days and they messed up and extended it for another month. I thought I was going to have to leave here after Christmas but now I can stay till after New Years. I'm happy about this because I will be able to spend New Years with people I know. It might have been very lonely if I was forced to be in Laos by myself.
Okay so let me think about what has been going on...
I have been going out a lot at night. It has been really fun and led to some really funny stories. I will sum them up in a few sentences. I was talking to a Thai girl in a night club and apparently I couldn't understand a few things she was saying and she asked me if I actually spoke English...hmmm...I thought I did. Had a Dutch guy say to me, "I'm just going to be really European about this and ask you if I can take you home?" I said, "no." Then 2 minutes later he says, "I'm going to be really European about this and ask if you wanna f#$%?" Of course the second question won me over. What was he thinking? Of course I said, "still no," but then headed away from him. I've seen him since, he is a friend of a friend, he apologized but I swore he was trying to hit on me again. I have many more stories like this but I'm not sure they will be as funny to you as they are to me.
I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas. I was a little sad on mine. I was missing my family and friends. I felt bad for myself for awhile then snapped out of it. I had talked to this guy the night before who informed me of a restaurant having xmas dinner close to me. I walked there and noticed that I was def late, since everyone was on dessert and it was sold out. Good planning Tasha. I went inside to have a drink and ended up meeting some Euro's going to a bar that was hosting a few bands. This is where I had my xmas dinner. In a bar, with a free buffet, and a 40+ yr old crowd. I of course was a hit being one of the only ones under 35. It was a great time though. Later my friend picked me up and we bar hopped with a bunch of others.
I gave back Red Roamer for now. I still love her but I don't need her as much. I get rides from friends and tuk tuks most of the time. Someday I hope to ride her again. I've settled down on the waffles too. Not because I want to, because I don't want to be the only person in history who comes home from Thailand bigger then they left. I do have a business idea though. Instead of the Tamale Lady who sells fresh tamales at bars around San Francisco, I am going to be the Waffle Lady. The smell is too good for drunkerds to resist. I'll make a fortune=)! Who's with me people?
A few days ago my massues friend invited me to go to his teachers massage and herbal sauna outside of the city. We went with some of his students and it was amazing! The place was out in the country. You go in this small steam room that fits 1-2 people. The couple that we went with were very spiritual. The woman and I shared a room. I got in and was instantly sweating. I looked at her and said, "sorry if it starts smelling like alcohol in here." She didn't laugh. I did. After the sauna we had a thai massage. Most pain I've been in for 2 hours straight. The guy massaging me was about 4 feet tall and I wanted to kick his ass. I was like, "UNCLE!!!!!" After that we did more sauna. It was a whole day process. I felt very lucky to be a part of it, except for the part when they gave me a huge man's white tank top and pants to wear for the massage. I'm pretty sure by the time I leave Thailand almost everyone will have seen me naked. Might as well save on my laundry bill now and walk around like that.
Been doing a little more then this, but small un-interesting things. Still having a great time! Looking forward to Laos and Vietnam!

You know, in Portland they have a waffle window and it's a huge hit... there is also a waffle truck in the city, but nobody has a waffle cart.
I think it would be a huge hit. And it would be very European.
If you come back bigger, there'll just be more of you to love. Lol. We think of you often. Happy New Year. Best, Ed
