Why haven't I had a motorbike(scooter) my entire driving life!? Rented one yesterday and I fell in love, but I'll get to that later.
Surprise, surprise I am still in Chiang Mai. I can't seem to leave! I have been having a great time here. After I went rock climbing I needed a day of rest. My body was exhausted, I really can't believe that it took so much out of me. Ow, good news, I can finally eat again. My hunger is at peak working levels and I am eating a ridiculous amount of Thai food. Well not just Thai food, I kept on smelling this amazing fragrance at many of the markets. Didn't do any hard core investigation at first, but then the smell was just too good. I followed my nose to a stand where they were making belgium waffles. You can pick banana, blueberry, apple, chocolate, etc. I had my first taste and now I am addicted. I went to great lenghts to seek one out last night with no avail. I think they are hiding from me. Maybe they are trying to do me a favor, instead of having something fattening and delicious before bed, I had to have fruit. Boo=(.
Okay I'll try to focus now. So after rock climbing and resting, I did a cooking course. It was on a Thai organic farm. The place was gorgoues and the food we made was great and so easy! The day after that I did a jewelery course. Made a ring. It was fun doing something with my hands but I didn't like the models that we were to follow. Went to zoo, blah, blah, blah. Boring.
Did I tell you about my new TBF(Thai boyfriend)? Don't worry I already told Jeff. Maybe he shouldn't have left me in Thailand....JUST KIDDING! Anyways about my TBF...
He is a massuese.I found him by walking by his shop. A detox massage intrigued me so I made an appointment with him. If I thought my previous massage was invasive that was nothing compared to this. I might have been upset if I hadn't felt amazing afterwords. He did this thing were he cuts off the circulation to your legs for a moment then the blood comes rushing back. You can feel a warm rush go from the top of your legs all the way down. After, him and I sat around talking for an hour. I made another appointment with him for a few days later. He totally asked me if I had a boyfriend=).
The next day I went on this insanely long hike in the jungle. It was great! Our guide was amazing. We would walk along and she would pick up flowers, bugs, fruit, vegetables, etc that we could eat. We stopped at a waterfall for lunch whereshe pulled out pad thai wrapped in banana leaves and proceeded to make chopsticks from bamboo that was lying around. She also made me a bamboo cup, which I am going to try and bring home with me. She taught us a lot about nature in Thailand. I almost killed myself and gave her a heart attack at the same time. She was showing us a rubber branch on a tree. She said, "very strong branch, can clime tree". So I grabbed it with both hands and it swung me out over a cliff were I was at a dead hang. She tried to grab me and couldn't. I lifted my feet and pushed off the tree. Once I got close she grabbed me and I dropped to the ground. We both looked at each other with wide eyes. I said, "whoops" and we started laughing. I felt like Michael Douglas in the Jewel of the Nile. Later we went to a bat cave and saw some cute little bats. She helped me a lot with my Thai, I'm actually not that bad at it. The day was fun and long. Soon as I got back, I fell asleep.
Next day I had a late appointment with my TBF. It was really good and he asked me if I was hungry. I said I was going to the Saturday Night Market, and he asked me if he could give me a ride on his motorbike. I said, "yes" and we were off. It was really cool being at the market with a local. He could ask all my questions and try to tell me in English. His English is not great and there are a lot of miscommunications. He said he was sorry about that, and I said since we were in Thailand and not America I would forgive him. Then I laughed and he laughed too. I'm sure he didn't understand but he laughs when ever I do. So if things get akward, that is all I do.
Next night, him and I went to a Thai action movie. It was great! Well it was really cheesy and funny, but the experience was great. I was def the only falang(foreigner). After,we went to his friends restaurant, were we had some great Indian food. His friend treated us very well and his English was fantastic! Heis Thai but spent some time in Spain and studied English, so I could actually understand somebody.
I randomly saw this guy the next day and we were talking about my trip. I stupidly didn't think about were I wanted to be for Christmas and New Years. He said he is going to take me to Immigration sometime this week to try and get my Visa extended so I can stay in Chiang Mai till after the holidays. Laos I heard is great but very small, closes early and he said very boring around the holidays. We will see what happens with that. I think my TBF got a little jealous that his friend and I hit it off but I informed both of them again that I have a boyfriend in the states.
Now lets talk about my new love, my motorbike! When I get home I need one. It's not like I want one I NEED one! I rented it for the first time yesterday. I named her Red Roamer. I was really scared to drive around because Chiang Mai is CRAZY. I really wanted to go to the Mountain though and the best way to do that is a scooter. The guy looked scared when he was giving me instruction. I assured him that I've done this before (in Greece with my bitch on the back(shout out to Bianna)). I got on, took off and I was in love. I was smiling the whole way on my trip. I stopped at various places, temple, village, etc. I hiked a bit through the National Park but scared myself silly when I realized that I was in the middle of a jungle by myself, with no protection. Saw the article in the paper, "American missing in Jungle" and high tailed it out of there. I was really disappointed because I wanted to see a waterfall that was in the area but I got on my scooter and everything was right in the world again.
Today I am taking Red Roamer to a reservoir. Tonight I'm going to a pre-Christmas party with my new friends. Should be fun. Was thinking about looking nice but the only thing in my aresnal are ear rings. So I will be wearing ear rings tonight. Really fancy. Sure glad I thought ahead about looking nice. For the sarcastically inclinded, I'm saying that I did not think ahead and don't look that nice anywhere I go.
Okay, I'm going to take off on Red Roamer, I'll keep you updated on my Visa situation.
I'm putting out my request now for Xmas, I want a SCOOTER...please=)
