Well after over a month in the country...i am heading off in 20minutes (ish) to Laos...my thoughts on Thailand vary but one thing i have to admit is just how nice the majority of locals are...very friendly and most are willing to help...the tourist industry has definately affected the majority of Thailand but Thai hospitality is still the same.
I will also have to admit to giving Dad and Lyn and award for organising the last trip and other trips...i don't think one can fully appreciate the work that goes into organising (does that mean i am organised?...dreaded word!) a trip...especially a few years back when computers and the good ol' internet was not as good as it is now.
The sunday night market was nice, not as impressive...well didn't have as many crazy items as the Phuket night market but had some lovely food and some not so nice 'gloopy sweet but not sweet drink but with gloopy jelly parts in' drink...strange i think was our final decision after throwing half of it down a drain...seemed to be popular with the locals. Did have a lovely banana spring rolls...oh and a banana and chocolate waffle to get rid of the taste...still got a minor sweet tooth lol.
Think i have finally recovered from my trek...last night after walking around the night market for a few hours i can admit my thigh muscles were well and truelly about to retire and give in.
Got a 6hr bus ride to the border then a stay in a local guest house and then a 2 day boat ride to Luang Prabang (as i said in previous blog)...reading up on it, the place sounds nice... I am not sure if my Thai number will work in Laos so probably best to contact me on my english number...probably won't get a Laos, Vietnam or Cambodian sim card as i won't be staying there very long but i will see when out there...hopefully my thai number will work but not sure of cost either and if i can buy top up out there...suppose i will wait and see and keep you all updated.
Speak soon and have fun :)
