Hi all, Anna Kate here.
Well I had to laugh at Colin's post. By "some sweating more that others", was a polite way of saying "my girlfriend is a sweaty mess." Actually, it isn't that bad and is definitely better than I thought it would be.
The flight, as Colin said, was definitely a long one. If anyone has seen the new movie Wall-E, they will know what I'm talking about when I say I felt like one of the humans from the future, who sit in a floating wheelchair all day and eat food and get entertained by little tvs. That is exactly what our flight was to Tokyo. We sat there, ate THREE HUGE MEALS, drank and watched little video screens of whatever we wanted. I almost cried when mine froze 30 mins before the flight was over. What can I say? They were addicting.
When we got to Tokyo we splurged on airport sushi because we desperately wanted real sushi. It was delicious, of course, but seeing as how we paid in yen, we may have just paid a month's worth of rent, who konws!
Bangkok was great, when we finally arrived. The day after our scotch drinking (bad idea) and our late-night vendor eating (even worse idea - but delicious at the time) we explored what was probably "Modern Bangkok" seeing the huge and fancy shopping malls, and new buildings. But we did travel by three very different means - an open air taxi truck, a riverboat taxi and the fancy skytrain. We also made plans to go back and do shopping in certain areas and of course have more late-night food from the stalls. (They cook up noodle dishes mostly right there on the spot).
Anyhow, this internet cafe closes in 10 minutes. So I'll close with the most interesting thing I learned so far on my trip - become a Monk, you get to board first on the airplanes.
