Hot Spring
Today K and I rented a motor bike. We drove for about one hour to a place south east of Chiang Mai to look at the Sankampaeng Hot Springs.
The water of the springs is over 100 degrees hot. There was a swimming pool with water of the springs mixed with cold water. Needles to say that this time my cloths were off in no time and I was the first one to be in the pool. I loved swimming there although in some areas where the water wasn't mixed well it was really hot and it felt like you're about to burn. For some reason I couldn't help but think that the water smelled of eggs. I'd soon find out why.
We got dressed and headed to look at the actual hot spring. On our way they had little pools with different temperatures where you could put your feet in.
When we arrived at the spring we could buy a basket of eggs. We thought that we should give it a try. It was our choice how long we wanted to boil our eggs and we decided to try five minutes. We were quite
happy with the result and the eggs tasted good but where's "Aromat" when you need it? I always happen to miss that spice mix when I go abroad. One would think that by now I'd remember to bring some along. Oh well, why not do it the local way and eat my eggs with soy sauce.
On our way back we went to look at the Muangon cave. In this cave lies original hair of Buddha. I remember us walking up hundreds of steps. Either I'm slowly getting out of shape or these stairs really give one a hard time. I was glad to finally have made it up there only to find that we had to climb all the way down again inside the mountain. I was quite impressed by the size of the cave. It was nice to stay in there for a while and walk around since the temperature was pleasurably cool. Then we hit the stairs up and down again. When we got back to our motor bike we were desperate for a nice cool drink.
In the evening we had dinner at a hotel in Chiang Mai because it had a roof top
restaurant. I wasn't really impressed with the view but the food was good.
