All these years I just thought I was getting a quality massage. That was until yesterday...I finally had Thai Massage. I have never been stretched like that before....not by a stranger anyway :) I could go for one of those a day!
So Sam and I are leaving Chang Mai today and heading to Bangkok for the night. We leave tomorrow for Ko Phi Phi...cant wait for the beach! Chang Mai has been great...we went to several temples while we were here. One of the temples, Doi Suthep, was really amazing. It sits on a mountain with a view of Chang Mai. To get to the temple we climbed many, many stairs...210 to be exact. A little out of breath once we reached the top. We also stopped by one of the Queen's many palaces. The palace is located on top of the mountain in the rainforest. The air was so fresh and cool...nice change from the air in the city. The air in the city gets to me after awhile...mix of diesel, sewer, spices, incense, fish, food. I don't think I have ever experienced such an intense mixture of smells before.
One of the locals here shared his experiences with the Tsunami. A conversation I will never forget. In short...He worked in a shop on the beach and just happened to leave 10 days before the storm hit. When he returned, 20 days later, he helped clean up the bodies of the victims. He said two people were found in front of his shop holding on to each other around a pole. He said it took about 5 months to clean everything up...now everything is back to normal and he said no one really talks about the Tsunami.
Here are some of our photos from Bangkok...hope this link works.
