On top of the world! On top of the world!
On top of the world!

On the road to Doi Mae Salong.
Well, after a whole day of driving and not really knowing where we were going to stop, we made it to Chiang Mai!

The ride up here was absolutely surreal. We stopped in Doi Mae Salong, a tiny Chinese village set on top on mountains. These were mostly refugees forced out by the Maoists in the 1940's and have managed to preserve their culture in a tiny place in northern Thailand. It was beautiful.

We made it to Chiang Mai at about 8pm. My friends insisted that we had to eat at this famous burger joint - Mike's. I went along, despite being vegetarian. I ordered dii chan kin jeh - a meatless buger because I'm vegetarian, but they seemed shocked nonetheless. They even had signs on the walls about eating vegetarians.
