I wish now that I'd stayed longer in Nepal - I think it takes two weeks to really start to love a place - but coming back to Thailand was like coming home. I had a big stupid grin on my face when I got back to Khoasan. I know, I have some gaps to fill in, but this entry is just about today. Sometimes there are days where you barely do anything, and absolutely nothing happens. And sometimes these are the days you know you'll remember best. Today was one of those days. And this is a rather long post about not much at all. After sitting around at the pool for a few hours, chatting, reading, messing around on Facebook, I decided I really wanted some pineapple - the kind you get in a ... read more

We arrived in Chiang Mai (by train) at 8:15am on Sunday and took a tuk tuk to Diva Guesthouse, where we were asked to wait until our room was free. We relaxed in the reception area, and I took frequent trips to the bathroom, as my tummy was playing up. Surprise surprise! During this time, though, we planned our next two days' activities. Once our room was ready, we had showers and some food, then set off in a tuk tuk to Tiger Kingdom. We bought tickets to go into all enclosures, from small to big cats, however, when passing the big tiger cage, I must admit, I was a little reluctant. We played with the babies, who were around three months old, and at one point, one stretched, taking my face between his front paws! ... read more

Die ... read more

Day 109 (Mon 24thDec) Chiang Mai Woke up with a bit of a hangover as one generally does. There were 4 of my roommates having a chat so got involved and we all headed out for a walk around. The others all arrived yesterday the same as me and were staying for the same amount of time so was good to meet people who were going to be about for more than a day. Often people are leaving as you’re arriving or vice versa so having the chance to have the same people about for a few days seemed good. We headed to a little cafe to grab some lunch and as we were all still tired from the previous day, me due to hangover and them due to travelling we had a team nap and ... read more

Day 102 (Mon 17thDec) Managed to surface around 10am, had a quick look on facebook to see my friend Megan was downstairs in my hostel. I met Megan in Shanghai and again in Beijing. I was due to leave early on but because of the session the night before it didn’t happen. Me and Megan sat in the communal area of the hostel watching some idiot abroad and crying with laughter. It’s a shame I was leaving the day she arrived but as my trip is a slower one she’ll catch me at some point for a good drinking session maybe in Laos. After this I headed to the station to get my train to Ayutthaya, a place I had never heard off until a few days ago. It turns out this was once the central ... read more

Chiang Mai is the biggest town in the North ... it's very spread out with in the center the old town of Chiang Mai which is a LARGE block (with hundreds, if not thousands of soi/little streets) surrounded by a modern town ... takes mi about 15-20 minutes to drive from one side to the next, so u can image how the large the area is ... many IMPORTANT thai temples r here, which was seen in mi last blog ... i wanted to go into the monestery around my birthday, however now i was close to the center, had a nice, although VERY hot, room in a wonderful maze ... i decided i was gonna face mi worst fear, m afraid of heights ... thereafter i would just see and let the day take mi ... read more
