Looks like the last entry by Shaun was 3/6/06, so i'll update. Friday 3/4/06 left Cave Lodge at Tam Lot Cave. Did a partial tour of cave.
Rode bamboo raft halfway through cave then hiked approx. 45 min. - 1 hr. inside cave very interesting. Large Blue Carp in the total darkness of the cave. very cool, this was on 3/2/06 or 3/3/06 I seem to have lost track of the days, must be having a good holiday if I can't remember what day it is or i'm remaining plastered on Thai Whiskey, oooooh so good. Visited Night Market in Chiang Mai on Friday night 3/3/06, more shopping than anyone could ever want. Shaun took me to the food section as he had been there the night before. That place is hugh, at least one city block. Any type of Thai food or western food a person could possiably conceive of. Had half Kilo of Prawns, approximately 10 of those guys the only place I have seen prawns that big was in Fairbanks, Alaska July, 2005, yeah that's right, Fairbanks, Alaska, remember at the Pump House Restaurant Ian?
Left Chiang Mai via Thai Air to BKK and then on to Trat via Bangkok Air, what a sweet airline, about a 50 minute flight. arrived and caught a minibus to the pier for the speedboat to Koh Maak. Hung out at the travel agency/restaurant/mini market drinking Chang Beer and learning Thai from 62 year old Mommsan who owns the whole works, she kinda took a liking to me being 60 years old and very good looking, why don't the young girls act like that with me, just kidding Michelle, you know how I have to talk to everybody. Then walked down the pier and read while waiting for speedboat, 40 minute trip compared to 3 hours by slow ferry.
Arrived Koh Maak about 5:30pm on to Koh Maak Resort, whoa Nellie, what a place, just one notch below Sofitel Ia Ora on Moorea. Fan bugelow, with two cement beds, or at least they feel like cement. Sunday 3/4/06 just hung out with Emmi the Bartender, she's a real sweetheart. Shaun got out his Learnig Thai book and we spent the afternoon with her and a couple other ladies from the resort learning Thai. I think if one would like to learn Thai a full immersion is the way to go, much like Michelle and I did a couple of years ago in central Mexico.
I know that today is Monday as all the Thai tourists left the resort, headed back to BKK. Oh yeah, Shaun has taken a liking to Thai Whiskey. He had a very interesting night, last night, passed out on the pier and ended up having a dog wake him up by licking his face. Ian, Shauns's letting his hair down, do you believe it? Got snorkeling gear this am, rented motorbikes and toured all 16 kilometers of the island. Shaun signed up for a scuba dive for Tue. 3/7/06 and i'm going to snorkel, coming down with a cold. Got something from Shaun that Allison gave him, so maybe that will knock it, it would be a bitch to spend 20 hours on the plane next week with a cold. No pictures this time as Shaun doesn't trust me with his camara, smart kid. For all of Shauns friends in Alaska, he just won't take off those inflatable swimmie things that little kids put on their arms to keep afloat, and keeps asking why he can't dive below the surface of the water. I hope the dive instructor will convince him tomorrow when he takes his dive lesson, if not the dumb shit might as well snorkel. That's all folks.
