Hello again friends and family!
I bet you have all been anxiously waiting another posting hehe....Let me try and think where I left off....i think it was Sunday...So lets start with Monday. THis was pats first day of schoool....he didnt have to teach, but he met amy at the gates of the school at 745 and his day began....He doesn't rly tell me to much...I know it was lesson planning day....so he did that for a bit....I think it was a long day for him just getting settled in, seeing the school and realizing the working life has started. As for me...I was home ALL alone. I went shopping(of course) ....went to MBK mall-7 floors of crazy crazy shopping. I felt out of place on monday....because all thais wore yellow on this day-its called the 'kings yellow polo'(in honor of the king..P.s Thais love their king) and i was in the streets wearing a pink shirt....and you wouldnt believe how manyy thais wear this yellow shirt...so i felt like i stood out more then normal this day. Anyways Back To shopping! it was a great day...i baught lots- 2 shirts, perfume, some mac makeup, 6 dvds(iron man, 27 dresses, the other
boleyn girl, horton hears a who, jane austin book club, the bucket list). Some jewelry....i think thats about it. Im just in love with HOW cheap everythign is here...but i cant take advantage of it too much yet...or my funds will quickly be ZERO...around 4;15pm I met pat at the BTS station and we skytrained it home together. That night i believe we found this like outdoor thai foodcourt near our place...i orfdered shanghai noodles with chicken, and pat ordered curry chicken meal and some bbq pork from another vendor...it was yum! Cant remeber the cost...maybe like 5-6$ with a drinks...After that we went to La dolce vita(that gelato place) because we were in lovew with it...I think we ended the night watching thE Bucket list and headed to bed. Tuesday again-pat had school-more lesson planning. TOday I headed to Central department store to do an exchange. The day before we had baught new bed sheets, a mattress pad(because we found our bed rly hard) and 2 pillows....but we were sure the bed was queen..WRONG..it was King so i had to exchange the sheets and pad for king size...It went ok..on my way back to the apartment i stopped for
a little treat. I dont know if anyone has had coldstones in the states(its like u choose an icecream flavor, and then toppings..caramel, cookies, u name it..and the put it in the icecream!they treat the icecream like it were dough) Anyways long story SHORT its AMAZING! so near our place is a place called ICEstones...and its the same idea...so i treated myself..i got some monkey flavored one(with bananas and whatnot--> P.S:I LOVE banana stuff) that afternoon i did a load of laundry...had to figure it out...but i succeeded....After pat had finished school, i met up with him , and a few of his fellow teacher-friends were heading for drinks so we joined. We went to a bar near the school called sports academy for some drinks for a few hrs, and then proceeded to The Dubliner(an irish pub) for pub quiz. Which was basically just trivia...a bunch of teams try to answrer. it was alot of fun! Our team didnt do too badly...but we didnt win! haha...pat and i headed home after hat as he had teaching again in the morning. WednesdaY: Today was pats FIRST teaching day! He said it went well...it was just basic introduction lesson, learning baout
his students, and them leanring about him. One question was : Where were you born? (and he wa slookign for country and wahtnot) but the thai girls were respnding with "in a hospital" he found that kind of frustrating/funny. Pat teaches Mattayom..which is liek high school here...13-16 yr old girls- so he teaches pretty high up. As for my School free day I met up with my friend Tash(the girl i teach kindergarten with) I tagged along for some of her errands...went to the bank, got some lunch, and headed to MBK mall. I met her boyfriend! He was awesome! He is Thai, and theybe been together i think 3 yrs....he teaches thai lessons around bangkok and has awesome english. They r a cute couple:) Tash and I needed some blouses to wear to school so we got a yellow kingS polo (yay now il fit it) ahha and some ralph lauren blouse tops...We will look like twins at school. Tash and her Bf kay...then helped me bargain for a cell phone. So now i have my own cellphone..got a decent deal:) its cute. it works. its all i need! Kay headed off to go to one of his thai
lessons, and I joined tash at her apartment. She lives about 2 stops away oin the BTS from me...and to get to her apartment u have to walk liek 15 mins...taxi..tuk tuk or...MOTORBIKE.....so guess what! I had my first motorcycle ride. I was terrified...she told the driver to drive slower for me because it wasmy first time(She is fluent in thai=BONUS!!hehe) The ride was Scary Yet fun...im still building up my courage) lol. Her apartment was very cute...its very thai place and her and her bf fixed it up and made it all pretty! Around 515 i deciuded i should make my way home as the sky was black and i was afraid of a storm. It started pouring rain so i hoped into a taxi for the sky train...SIDE NOTE:BangkOK has SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH traffic...its rediculous..and a dumb idea to even take a taxi during rush hour...yet rush hour never seems to end here.ha. Ne ways we pretty much didnt move for 10 mins..but i finally made it to the station...and walked home....with an umbrella...and still maaged toget soaked from head to toe. It rained and poured like i had never seen rain before. Kind of scary actually. Water up
to my ankles...and thats only after maybe 30 misn of rain. For dinner..pat and i didnt wanna venture out in the crazy rain-so we ordered in. Theres a website here called ChefXP..u register ur adrreess, and then order ne thing via online..clck and order....theres everything--even mcdonals and subway deliver here. We dcided to be cool and we ordered thai...it was alriught...but thai meals weve had on the street wwre better.....for 1 appetizer, 2 meals, and a spicy papaya salad it was only like 12$...so we couldnt complain. early night as we both had school today(THURSDAY) yay it was my first day of school. woke up around 630am and pat and i were out the door by 7:05 am..on our way to BTS statin we stopped at the frenchbakery near our place for some chocoloate croissants. yum. we met tash on the platfrom and all headd to school. Tash and I met amy at the gates of the school for 745, and entered our new school! the grounds are gorgeous! Huge area, and well kept..i will upload pictures. It was first day of kindergarten for all the lil girls so all the parents were there and there was some big aseembly
and stuff...so we stood around for abit, then sat in the office to meet the head teacher...that took a couple of hours...Amy then showed us where we will be teaching! it was a cute class! She gave us alittle tour and then we were on our own! We decided we would like to rearrange the class....we took down most stuff off the walls....moved around furniture, cleaned the floors, dusted, rearranged posters, cleaned out cupboards, washed the toys, sent some toys to the laundry to be washed. And made the classroom our own. By the end of the day we were super proud of it. It took a while as we went through everything, and reorganized, and stuff. Breakfast and lunch are served for free at the school.Today was noodles with some chicken soup gravy thing..it was rly good. At 10am there was break time, and we got icecream(EVEn better) ahha....we spent our whole day cleaning the classroom and making it our own. We made these like hanging decorations. we cut out flower shapes, and had fishing string and tied them ona string and hung them from the celing. Our class is beautiful! We love it:) Its super cute and we
are so eager to begin teaching! TaSh and I get along great and will be a great teacher team. we are at school daily from 8am-4pm...excpet tqwice a week we have to be there 7am to greet the students. fridays end early. And we only teach 8.5 hrs a week in total, but we do have tpo stay at school the whole 8am-4pm). There are 360 kindergarten students....and we get 30 at a time but divide it in two. Everyday we r done teachign by 1130am. And classes r just 30 mins each as the girls are so young-3-5yr olds! THEY ARE Adorable though! They all look alike as this is a prive school they r required to have the same haircut. its too cute tho. they have nap time, and after lunch they all go brush their teeth, and the bathroom is all these mini toilets(ill have to take a picture) The kids are precious!! Anyways That is Life in Bangkok, thailand thus far. There will prob be an update tuesday after the long weekend(monday is a holiday) so pat and i r going to do some more tourist stuff this weekend..and Tuesday is my first day of teaching
my lil kindergarten kids(p.s its an allgirls school...so its all little girls...theres a couple boys though)! Ne ways Have a good Weekend, and Khap Khun Ka(thank u in thai) ~~Did i spell that right tash?? hehe...P>S SCROLL down for 3 pages of pictures!
