Long time, no Blog ... I know.
Let me begin by saying Happy Mother Day!Your Card should DEFINITELY be home now MUm, I sent it ages ago. Tried calling (dont even ask about the charges from Bangkok their out of this world) but no answer .. so just left a quick message. Hope all is Ok and You have A wonderful Day. Love you xx
Right. I shall try my best to update you and all things Thai. I still need to Blog Kakadu & Litchfield National Parks (both of which we're amazing by the way) But for the moment I'll just give you a (brief) summary of how things are going here.
Well we flew out on Maybe Tuesday (I say that because for some reason Im no longer able to remember the day of the week anymore) and got stung big time for flying with a cheap airway. Not only did we have to endure 16 Hours in Singapore, but Tiger Airways only allowed 15kg of luggage. Meaning I had to pay an exctra $40 for being a kilo over, and bex had to pay around $220 for being like 6 Kilos over. Ouch. Even better,
we had to recollect our luggage when we arrived in Singapore and keep it with us for 16 hours, before rechecking it back in, thus us having to pay the excess luggage fee once again. We did however, magically manage to have, I think, the heaviest hand luggage to record and got away with out getting ripped off this time around. Not the best of starts.
Finally arriving in Bangkok, I think it was Wednesday Night now after the time spent travelling, we were pretty tired having not slept in god knows how long and it was around 8ish Local time. We hadnt booked any accomodation and nearly got talked into staying into a hotel like 10 Pound each) but seen Ko San Road on the map, which seemed to ring a bell with both of us. We decided to get a taxi there and turned up thinking ..Perhaps we should have been more organised! Lol. We found a guest house though and parked our bags there for the night, where we got some well deserved rest.
The following day, Thursday, we checked out and moved about 1 minute down the road to a different guest house for
half the price. Its 350 Baht between us ...which is 175 each ...a grand total of 3 pound. Its not too bad at all though. We only woke later, from being jet lagged, lol, but went for a crazy ride on a tuk tuk today. Which meant we got to see a few sights but was very stressful! And then our driver left us at this temple in the middle of nowhere, even though we hadnt paid him, because we ended up having to buy something from this shop, and they get commission on it (we bought a key ring each by the way because our driver kept stopping at every stop so we just gave in and bought something!) and then he did a runner. Pfft! We did know alot of them do Con you but this guy seemed nice and we were just taken in. It was a good way to get around pretty cheap, but rather stressful in the end. An experience though! It had to be done.
:O We had a little walk around Ko San Road, and then went to this woman to book everything. Beckys friends who'd done Thailand raved on about her
DSCN1646theres SO many bikes in bangkok!
and how cheap she was, so we didnt even look elsewhere and was convinced we'd get a good deal. We told her what we wanted, and she booked all our accomodation for the 2 weeks, boats to the different Island, flight to Phuket, 11 hour train (should be fun) back from Ko Phi Phi to Bangkok, a 2 Day 1 Night trip to the Tiger Temple & Elephant Riding, and a 1/2 Day Diving ..for 375 pound. Which is like 22,000 Baht. We happily walked with her to the cas machin, handed over the money and then got shoved in a taxi back to our accomodation, and it wasnt till then we was like How the hell was it so much. Basically ..Thailand is cheap. And I mean Dirt Cheap. We're paying 3 Pound a night at the minute for Our room, wso how we've paid that much I have no idea. We've been done, big time. The probelm is that nothing is priced here, so you never know how much it should be or whatever, so it's abit more difficult than Oz were you can just get brochure with all the prices in and then shop around. Anywho, its
done now and we'll just have to deal with it. Abit annoyed with ourselves but it seems a few people have done the same so that makes the whole situation a little better!
Friday began with us eating out, omelette .. 35 Baht. Which is 50p ..Cant complain. Dont know how we'll manage going back to Cooking for ourselves in Oz. You just eat out here all the time ..Loving it all ready. Though I am going ot try alot more Thai food ..it looks amazing. We went shooping today and then went to a Thai Boxing Match tonight, which is huge over here, obvisouly. We wanted 3rd class seats, 1000 Baht but the woman trying to sell us them was having none of it. "No No. You be with all the Thai! Lots of Betting. You No see. Ring Very Far!" Fine then ..we'll cough up 1500 Baht to go Second Class.. around 25 pound. Jeez Louise. Was she having none of that? Oh No. "You go Ringside. Ringiside is Ok for you." Which was 2000 Baht. We ended up getting it for 1700, which included a Dvd ..Bargain! And we were right next to thie ring. The
seats were really good. It was just alot of money. But it was a good night. They really go at each other ..its pretty painful. And we got there at 6.30pm and didnt leave till about 10.30 after watching 8 fights and then the Main Event. It was pretty Cool :)
Yesterday, Saturday, we went on our 2 Day 1 Night trip. The first day didnt start all that well as we got picked up at 7.05am, and woke up at 7am. Ooops! We grabbed our bags, looking like scruffs, and did our make up en route! I nearly stabbed myself in the eye with my eye liner due to the bumpy road but Im ok! We also brushed our teeth in a carpark when we stopped somewhere because we didnt want to pay to use the toilet! No very quicky,as the woman just said the Internet cafe closes in FIVE Minutes and Im not even halfway through....We went to the floating Markets today, followed by a War Museum (Boring) and then the Tiger Temple. On the night we stayed in a Floating House, which was cool to wake up one the water.
Today, we bathed Elephants, which
was extra, but totally worth it. And then later on we did bamboo Rafting and the Elephant Ride. Got back to Bangkok around 7ish ..the traffic was absoluelty shocking. Bangkok is total Chaos! And tomorrow we fly to Phuket at 10am. Now I really do have to go cause shes like hovering over me! Farewell x
