So, uni over, millions of pounds in debt, i get myself into more debt to come to asia, a place far far away that is supposed to be very nice. Bangkok however, isnt. well, its different put it that way.

Baptism of fire when i get off my 15 hour plane journey via the middle east, the heat is humid and quite uncomfortable, especially when im carting around a massive bag with no idea as to what to expect when i meet the boys. They got drunk in the hotel room the night before so when i got there, they wernt paticuarly enthusiastic about a day sight seeing in the most overly polluted, dirtiest, busiest and smoggiest city i have ever been to.

After, gettig ripped of by a tuk-tuk man, we did a boat ride in the canals, saw some pikey shnty houses, a dead dog in the river and some of the other things bangkok has to offer.

We then went to Chatuchuk market, the biggest market that sells literally everything. ever. You want a turkey on a lead? you got one. You want some eels, crabs, dogs, turtles, chickens, parrots, cats, exotic fish, chipmunks and squirrels? you got them. its not just a animal market tho, its got clothes, electonics and everything, pretty much what you would expect from any market but it was huge. and hot.

Koh San road is currently the only place we have been out, met up with Kirsty brefly which was cool and the first night out was carnage. After not sleeping in over 35 hours, it didnt take much to get drunk but we still hit the Sang Som and Red Bull buckets hard. The fact we were 6000 miles away meant nothing as our favourite bar is Gullivers, a bar full of english people, pool table, dart board, premiership football and also prostitutes feeling you up at the slightest opportunity. It gets very uncomfortable at times but its funny all the same as its something i have never seen before. James was sick and went home early, shortly after me and dave rolled in and the slept till 4pm the next day. Lovely lie in it was.

So what else have we done on Bangkok, went to the MBK shopping center, the Grand Palace and Wat Poe temples, which were lovely and shiney but something i dont really appreciate maybe as much as i should. All the same, its the sort of thing that has to be done when you come to Bangkok.

On the monday we went to Muay Thai boxing which was absolutely brilliant. We paid over the odds for ringside seats but it was worth it as its the most brutal sport ive ever witnessed. 10 fights, 5 3-minute rounds each of brutal mayhem. the 9th fight brought us our new hero, the only English fighter of the night called Phillip. He battered his opponent with typical english strength and power and produced the only knockout of the night, sending the thai bloke to the floor out cold. Brilliant night.

The tuesday we booked up a 3 day trip to Kanchanaburi. We also met up with James and Matt which was also wicked. Even though we had to be up at 6am to catch our bus to our trek, we still went out and got drunk, 2 hours sleep later and this brought on our next adventure. Here is where the travelling experience really got going......

A unified Thai kingdom was established in the mid-14th century. Known as Siam until 1939, Thailand is the only Southeast Asian country never to have been taken over by a European power. A bloodless revolution in 1932 led to a constitutional monarchy....more info
