Up bright and early today, Riachard and I get up add head off to or little Oasis... Lumpini Park to go for a little jog before it gets too hot...
Not too hot would propabally never happen in Thailand lets be honest, oh well its was nice to get out and stretch the legs, we also found an outdoor gym which was free to use. They need place like these in the UK!
After Returning to the Hostel and having a well earned omlette we head back to the room and Richard says he's off out for a wander.... : S
I will admit at this point I did think that was it for the rest of the day and my months of dropping hints of how it would be nice to go to the Sky bar for a drink had failed.
On his return he promptly said we were leaving a 5pm so be ready and wearing my lovely new outfit he had bought me yesterday : )
5pm ready to go and we head off in a taxi, after yet more barttering ....
We arrive at Lebua Hotel, the
sky bar is situated on the 62nd floor. The Sky is famous as having the higest alfresco restraunt in the world but resently made more heard of being used as part of the set used for filming the new Hangover Part 2.
We reach the 62nd just as the sun is setting, the sky a beautiful mixture of reds and oranges. Heading over to the bar I'm still giddy and partitally shocked that were here, heading over to the bar its unbelievable that the car the people put into the little things, they shine torches at the foor when you go down or up a step... just unbelieveable!
We get to the round bar placed out at the farthest point, giving you the most amazing views of the city. The pisture will do it more justice that what I can describe, but you really get an appreciation for how big Bangkok truley is and the tru mixture of wealth and povity.
We part take in a Hangovertini'' the drink concockted for the crew of the hangover... arriving with a bit of rosmary floating in it the expectations were mixed, but Oh My did it deliver and it
was worth the 550 Baht!
After another drink Richard suggests going down to a Jazz bar they have down on a lower floor for another drink, why not!
We get there and we walk along a glass walkway above another alfresco restaurant (Breeze) and down into the bar where Richard promtly says to me he's told a little porky....we are booked in for dinner here!! Wahoo it is the most beautiful setting, our table is to the edge of the glass balcony with the view of the city!! I know I'm going on but it truly was amazing...
To start we get a two plates of appertizers, sweet cherry tomatoes and duck rolls, they come out with a selection of sauces, which I must admit when I first saw they I thought they looked like shots!!. Our starters are deep fried soft shell crap and Richard has a crisby prawn salad.
Before our main comes out Richard pulls out a small box from his pocket.... my heart honestly skips a beat and think I stop breathing. Seeing this he quickly says oh no, no its not a ring! Ooops but it's a lovely braclet .
Mains arrive and I have Duck with plum sauce, Richard has satayed chicken with a peanut, almund and honey crust. To finish of Richard has an assortment of ice creams and I have an assortment of sorbet's. The food is all perfect.
After the meal we head to leave and stop at the top of the steps on the glass walkway suspended over the restaurant we've just left from, here is a circular window giving you yet another beautiful view of the city, Richard says he has another little present for me and hands me a key ring with a miniature mini model on, it took a while before I realised that also dangeling from the key ring was a ring...... An engagement ring!!!
The next few minute's happened so fast as Richard gets down on one knee and asks me to marry him, I answer him through tears (of course saying yes!) and an applause erupts from an audiense neither of us realized was watching.
The rest of the night is spent celebrating
I must say the best birthday I have ever had thank you darling and can't wait to get married to you.....
