Canada came to visit!
Miranda and some of her other Contiki travellers. The last few weeks at work have been relatively normal...we had midterms which meant that there were no lessons for three days and nothing for me to do either, so I spent those three days sitting on Facebook and reading my book (and still getting paid for it...tough life!). Apart from that, lessons have been normal and the students have been as adorable as ever. There was one incident when one of my favourite boys (Nemo, he's 8), showed me the tooth that had just fallen out of his mouth and the blood that was gushing from his gums! I have been hugged lots and called Mummy a few times, which I don't mind when it's by the six year olds but I was bit freaked out when a 14 year old said it to me!!
The weekends since my last entry have been lots and lots of fun though. Two weeks ago, Miranda, my Canadian friend who I met in New Zealand, arrived in Bangkok about to start her South East Asia Contiki tour. She had two days in Bangkok before the tour started so I went to meet up with her and show her a few
Friends from across the globe
Miranda worked out that we have seen each other in four different countries in a single year! of the sights. We didn't have time to do very much but met up for dinner on the Saturday (after she'd been to the tiger temple and Holly and I had spend the day sunbathing by a pool on Khao San Road). We also met some of her fellow Contiki people. They all seemed lovely and I was so so so jealous that I had to work while they were going off exploring. I wish I could have gone with them! We spend all day Sunday together, first going to Chatuchak Market so everyone could do some shopping, then having a massage and, finally, dinner before the sad task of saying goodbye. I was really sad about leaving her and felt very deflated after such a lovely weekend.
It wasn't long before the next weekend crept up on me though and, this time, I went straight from school on the Friday to catch the bus to Trat, where Alex is teaching. We were both agreed on a relaxing, cheap and girlie weekend - it was the last weekend before pay day after all! I arrived about 9pm and had a drink and a chat with her. She

Alex took me to see this, shortly afterwards we saw the funeral procession! is staying in a guesthouse and her landlord is very generous and friendly. There is a bar in her guesthouse, which is where we sat for an hour or so before settling down to bed for the night. We woke up on the Saturday and just lounged around reading for a while before heading out into Trat to explore. We visited lots of temples, even saw a funeral about to take place, and walked around the town for a few hours. It was so nice to feel like I was actually getting some fresh air whilst wandering around, rather than having to hold my breath like I do so often in Bangkok! I even found time for a pedicure. During the evening we went out for street food and then watched a couple of films and ate crisps and sweets! I headed back almost straight after breakfast on Sunday, so that I still managed to have an evening to myself, ready for Monday morning.
Yet again, this last week has flown by and here I am, on another Sunday evening, reflecting on a lovely weekend. I decided that, this weekend, I needed to stay in Bangkok and
Alex!
Alex posing by the cows... have some time to myself. I've spent the weekend shopping, relaxing and, of course, watching the Six Nations that started yesterday. I paid my Central Plaza a visit yesterday, walking through all seven floors to really discover what it has to offer. I found a nice salon and treated myself to a wax, whilst the results were good, the experience was a little more 'up close and personal' than I'm used to at home! I spent the afternoon laying around watching TV and trying to not get too tired, knowing I would be awake until nearly 2am watching the England game. It was worth staying up for but my nerves were shot to pieces by the end!! Today, I went to Khao San Road and spent a couple of hours by the pool I was at two weeks ago. Then I wandered up and down the road and did some shopping - bought postcards to remind me of beautiful places, two t-shirts and some iPhone speakers - then it was time for another massage. I've had really achey shoulders this week so had a nice herbal massage rather than the, slight more painful, Thai massage. It was very nice, with my skin being massaged by a bag full of steamed herbs (for want of a better description). I certainly came away feeling very relaxed.
Now time to catch up on a few chores and try not to think about work in the morning. It doesn't matter what country you work in, the Sunday Blues definitely still exist! With only six more weekends before I head home - and at least one of those spent laying on a beach - I'd better make the most of my time here.
