The world according to LegosThe world according to LegosThe world according to Legos

There's always something new going on at every mall in Bangkok. This past weekend was a Lego display.
Sixlets. I forgot to pack the Sixlets I got in my Christmas stocking. Seventeen hours in the air en route to Bangkok gave me a lot of time to think of what I forgot to pack for this next adventure. Seventeen hours also proved to be enough time for me to come up with the theory that long-haul flights should have a “traveling with children” section of the plane. The perhaps three-year-old boy behind me was either not feeling good or very, very tired but not sleeping for what felt like an eternity. Not that I blame him – it's a long time to sit. However, it severely disrupted my enjoyment of the flight.

To recap for those who don't know Bob and I have arrive in Bangkok to attend graduate school. After a 15-month program we'll come out with masters in business. The school we're attending is an American university - the only university in Thailand accredited in America as well as Thailand.

Two representatives from school met us at the airport when we arrived around 1am. We then stayed with some gracious friends who didn't mind us sleeping on their couch for a week. Thanks Trevor and

Yui! Finding an apartment in Bangkok is cake, but since we're both about to embark on some serious studies we wanted some specific qualities in what we'll call home – like enough room for one person to study if the other wants to sleep, or watch a movie. We've finally found a place that matches all of our criteria. It's about a 10 minute walk to school in an impressive art deco building with a massive pool and tons of common areas. Everything we wanted and hope will allow us to succeed in grad school.

We're happy to be back in Thailand, which rightfully calls itself the land of smiles. January is the coolest month in the kingdom so getting acclimated has been effortless. Cool meaning the daytime highs around the low to mid 80s and the lows are the mid to low 70s.

School begins tomorrow evening but today was orientation. Students from all over the world will be in our program – the US, Vietnam, Myanmar, Thailand, Japan, Zimbabwe, Sweden, India, Russia and many others. The diversity this will bring to the classroom is one of the main reasons we chose this business school – to

A strange design we saw in almost all of the condos we looked at. Thankfully our condo came equipped with a curtain to pull down over the window.

What is the name of your university?
My son is also in Bangkok, about to take the CELTA course on teaching English as a second language. At some point he also wants to get his masters degree, so perhaps your university might fit the bill assuming all classes are taught in English.

Webster University. They offer master's programs in business, media and international relations. Hope this helps!
