Verena: After a long flight and some quite surprisingly good airplane food we arrived in Bangkok. Hot, sweaty and smelly as it used to be and: I still love it. The first scam at the airport: ohh, standard rate for taxi but very cheap for you: 450 baht... ah well, hello Bangkok 😉 Checked into our hotel which is close by to Khao San Rd. Really nice place with air-con and balcony... well, a little treat for the start. After a little nap we went to Khao San Rd for a walk around and having a very expensive dinner. Yes, prices changed a little here... especially those big backpackers and restaurants (apparently owned by the Thail mafia) but other than that still more or less the same... you want tuk tuk? you want massage? you want suit?... well, the products and prices changed though.
After a rather sleepless night - jetlag - and getting up very late we finally managed to buy Thai SIM cards. My Thai no. 0066 851331394 - so, you can call me...although my phone might be on mute 😉
The last few days we didnt do much but hanging out on Khao San Rd. Getting a nice

massage or 4/2 Euro haircut and eating at our new favorite place: a little food stall where most dishes cost around 1 Euro and are very goood.
Other than that not too many exciting things happened. Yes, I already made some bad cat poo experiences... but who would have thought that you are not even save in a nice trendy coffee shop?! I saw a big lizard in the canal next to our house (thought it might be a crocodile in the beginning) and got already heaps of mosquito bites...
We also met Tony, an 80 year old American lady, still travelling the world and staying in cheap backpackers for 3 Euro a night. Thats one of the things I do love about travelling so much - you do meet a lot of inspirational and interesting characters.
So after being in the heat (its around 34-42C in BKK) we decided to go to Koh Tao today. But then we passed this really nice Thai bar packed with Thais on our way back to the hotel and decided to go for 1 drink. What can I say. 2 bottles of Thai rum later and inviting the lovely Thai/Chinese lucky charm seller

Our nice hotel and Ian still with hair
Victor (who has five toilets- that is apparently what Thai people say to someone who has only daughers - terrible, I know) to come and visit us in Europe we decided this morning that we might stay antother night in BKK and catch the bus tomorrow night.
So, that is the end of our luxury life... checked into our new hotel today: 7 Euro for the room with shared bathroom and a not very stable looking fan. so, here we go.
So, time to go now as this pc pis playing up and there is just a little backpacker muay thai fight going on behind me...
