I feel like I should pre warn everyone that this entry will not be funny. sorry.

bite status - healing! I've started my malaria tablets too (stable door and horse bolted I know!!) but thankfully they've not made me feel too bad.
burn status - all good, no suncream yesterday either......we spent the day indoors....

Sooo... several days after planning to leave Bangkok we're still here!! This is slighty down to liking bangkok but more down to getting too drunk last night to face travelling anywhere today! We spent the night on the Khao san road. Where Leo stayed! we had a few beers and made a few friends, 2 girls from Leeds, a guy from Birmingham and 2 aussie guys who both offered us places to stay in Oz! Unfortunately the leeds girls persuaded us to have a "bucket" which basically means they bring out a small sized bottle of whiskey pour it in a bucket and put a can of lemonade in, HORRIFIC!! needless to say we were the entertainment on Khao san road last night....

perhaps above everything I've experience in Thailand one thing has confused me more than anything, Monks.

monk (from Greek: μοναχός, monachos, "single, solitary"[1]) is a person who practices religious asceticism, living either alone or with any number of monks, while always maintaining some degree of physical separation from those not sharing the same purpose. The concept is ancient and can be seen in many religions and in philosophy.

Fine, not confusing at all - except, when you see them wandering round the city with their ipads! chatting on their mobiles, sitting in bars and I swear I saw one talking to a ladyboy last night! Yet on the train there is actually a sign that says "please give up this seat for monks" AS IF!

We finally have a plan now, we've sorted out our vietnam visa which takes 3 days to come thru, so we're going to go to Ko Chang for the weekend - starting 2mo at 8am :( then come back to bangkok on mon/tues pick up our visas then head north.

we're both very pleased with ourselves for sorting this out so going to go have a bucket to celebrate....

A unified Thai kingdom was established in the mid-14th century. Known as Siam until 1939, Thailand is the only Southeast Asian country never to have been taken over by a European power. A bloodless revolution in 1932 led to a constitutional monarchy....more info
