So ive wanted to go to thailand for a while, and have been so amped this trip at the thought that it was one of the stops. on my flight over from frankfurt, the realization set in that in a few hours i would be there, and kindof got a little nervous that it wouldnt live up to my expectations.... let me tell you... Thailand is amazing. i only saw prob about 5 blocks of bangkok, and i love it. the people are friendly (even though most are always trying to rip you off), the food is amazing, and the waterfestival/ khoa san road area is a blast. The waterfestival is absolute madness, people blasting music in the streets, and prob 1000 people armed with super soakers of icecold water, which is actually really refreshing seeing as how it gets up in the 100's and is humid as shit. i met a britsh couple, dean and kellie, the first day i got there, and pretty much hung with them the whole first night, we walked down to khoa san road (the main backpacker area,.. where dicaprio is supposed to be staying in the beginning of 'the beach') and joined in the
fun of the parade/party. there was a big kickoff festival for the start of the thai new year, which started officially april 13th. beer is CHEAP, and STRONG, you can drink on the street, and there is always somewhere to buy it... 24 hours a day... this is my kinda country. the next day myself and 3 other brits started gettin after it around 2ish, napped for a few hours, and then met up with dean to do a makeshift pub crawl around khoa san. most of the night we spent with a group of finish girls, and some other random english speakers we would pick up along the way.
Thats pretty much all i did while in bangkok, its really hard to go out and sightsee during the festival because you are properly soaked by the time you make it 100 feet from the cover of the guest house. plus i figured ill wait for jane to show me around, and not risk losing my camara to the barrel of some little thai punk's super soaker. so my next stop is bangledesh.... what?? for a night on my way to kathmandu nepal.... so stoked. hope all is well back
home... keep a finger crossed for me in kathmandu... kinda sketch situation huh?...
