... we've arrived safe & well!
We landed around 15:30 & with no complications we made our way to Bangkok, Koh San Road & we can confirm it's still just as mad as it was back in 2003.
After checking into D&D, we promptly headed for the swimming pool, on top of the roof in the midst of a thunder storm, which on reflection, probably isn't the safest place to be in the middle of a tropical lightening & thunder storm. However I'm happy to report no one was electricuted.
We then proceeded to find 'Pad Thai'. This no doubt will be our staple diet for at least the next 4 days whilst we're in Bangkok. It's very simple food, namely: noodles, bean sprouts, cabbage, egg & chicken - cooked on the side of the street for around 1 GBP... it's delicious & we've had about 4 or 5 already.
Next on the agenda was to find a bar that had the football on, which we were successful in doing so, however was then side-tracked by the 'Chang Tower'. This is a self pouring 3.5 litre pitcher hence the "tower". Naturally we had 4 of them and
then decided to try & beat a local at pool. Thanks the the Chang Tower, we all had a steady hand & obviously all fancied our chances, but it's safe to say we were hussled - loosing in total 1000 bhat's (around 20 GBP) .
With a little less money in our pockets, we then made for the pool at 01.30 in the morning, nothing like a "good dip in the pool" & then onto bed to make sure we'd be up in time for breakfast.
We've had some sunshine today which were quick to lap-up this morning. This afternoon we we've been walking around getting our bearings, played some more pool so we can try & win our money back, had some more Pad Thai & yes, some more Chang just for good measure.
Tonight we're off to the infamous Pat Pong Market (for those of you who aren't familiar with Pat Pong Market, look it up)... I'm sure they'll be a whole chapter for tonight's sha-nana-gan's which will be loaded later this week.
Hope all is well in cold, wet England.
