Vanochtend om 6 uur kwam ik met het vliegtuig aan in Bangkok. Na 12 uur vliegen en daarvoor me meer dan 6 uur alleen te hebben verveelt op Sydney Airport, was de shock van de lawaaierige chaos die Bangkok heet des te groter. Na 2 maanden 24 uur per dag superleuk gezelschap te hebben gehad, was vooral het 'alleen'-gedeelte erg vreemd. Mark vloog 6.5 uur eerder dan ik en een half uur nadat hij door de douane was, zat ik al tegen mezelf te praten! Maar goed, we hebben rationeel besloten dat na 6 maanden 1 maandje meer ook niet echt meer uitmaakt. Hier ook gelijk de reden dat ik mijn blog zo verwaarloost heb de 2 maanden met Mark in Oz ;-) Nu ik mijn indrukken niet meer kan delen, spring ik weer achter de computer! En Thailand heeft die eerste uurtjes al veel indrukken losgemaakt!
Vandaag is het vooral een kwestie van blijven ademen en geen kleren kopen... en iedereen die in Th Khao San in Bangkok is geweest, weet dat dat moeilijker is dan het klinkt! Morgen ga ik cultureel doen en morgenavond neem ik de nachtbus naar Chiang Mai, Noord Thailand, waar dit weekend een festival aan de gang is. Na het weekend ga ik 3 dagen door de jungle trekken, op een olifant rijden, op een vlot varen en meer van dat soort Indiana Jones-achtige dingen ;-).
Daarna neem ik de bus terug naar Bangkok, besluit ik of ik mijn verjaardag (10 febr!) in Bangkok of ergens anders wil vieren en reis ik met of zonder een paar dagen rust naar Cambodja! Maar voor het zover is laat ik wel weer van me horen!
Hoop dat in Nederland alles goed gaat met studie, werk en winter!

Busy Bangkok
Hi guys!
I'm so sorry it's been such a long time since I wrote in English! The truth is I haven't written anything the whole 2 months I travelled with Mark! I just copied his stories to my blog! But now he's back to Holland, I'm on my own again! And because I don't have anyone to share my enthusiasm with, I reckon I'll make up for lost blog-time!
I arrived in Bangkok this morning, 6 AM, goodmorning Thailand! I got myself an overprized taxi to the citycentre, found my hostel with absolutely no help from the taxidriver and have been running around Bangkok since 7.30 this morning! Bangkok is busy, chaotic but great! The city makes you feel like you had to much sugar. I'm bouncing around, smiling to everyone that looks my way, I'm trying hard not to buy anything yet.. it's so cheap! Ngaire, you're right about the tops and skirts and stuff.. it's just too much ;-)
Besides running around and not buying stuff, I already booked my next trip! I'll do a day of cultural sightseeing tomorrow and then take the nightbus to Chiang Mai. There's a big flower festival this weekend and after that I'm gonna do a 3 day trek! Elephants, rafts, jungle, the whole thing! After that I'll probably spend my birthday (10 febr.) back in Bangkok and I plan on travelling to Cambodia after that!
But I promise I'll keep you up to date this time! I reckon most of you from Wellington are back home again? Keep in touch!

Hi Ya Helma, Yay a blog in English! I was wondering what you were up to. I am amazed that you are still travelling! Thailand is amazang ay, And yes things are soo cheap. My Wellington summer is almost over and classes start next week I am looking forward to it. Lots of new faces at Wai Te Ata... but the best times were the ones we all spent there togther! Helmagirl! You sound like you are having a total whirlwind of a trip! WOW i cant wait to see photos...Thailand sounds amazing and Im sure you'll love to get out of the city and see more of the countryside. I cant help but feel envious of you and a little sad that I cant travel with you right now...I am at uni studying for tests and writing papers...haha BUT, im applying to teach english in France for 2006-2007 and I will HAVE to see you in Holland if I get accepted to teach. I miss you heaps, and I love ya girl, shelly
