Breathing Fresh Air in Bangkok

Hello to all!

Well, never thought I'd be happy to be back in Bangkok but well..here we are. I think the most satisfying thing for Caroline is the multitude of smoke free areas here while Vietnam is well..its basically a smoke festival (and we all know how well she tolerates smoking). My particular favorite was the guy who fired up a pipe in a restaurant yesterday (yikes!).

While the weather is its usual humid hot and nasty best it is nice to be back in Thailand. Even Caroline uttered I'd like to be back in the -30C weather at home. I nearly fell over (probably not a good idea on Bangkok streets). The people are so friendly here. I'm happy (and relieved) to say that Caroline is very happy with her dress! I only got to see the bridesmaid dresses and they look very beautiful as well (you may sigh with relief Catherine and Susie!).

Went to see Wat Pho today which houses the massive reclining buddha. It is simply an amazing sight, and enormous. For a small donation of 20 baht (about 80 cents Canadian) you get around 80 small coins to put in pots all in a row as you exit which was quite relaxing. I have some video of Caroline partaking.

We have a few days to relax here in Bangkok before heading off to Singapore for a day. We're going to brave Patpong tonight (should be interesting). I'll take some pictures. Also, we now have video of me attempting to cross the insane city streets in Ho Chi Minh for those with weak stomachs. Let me tell you..its an experience. The Mekong tour was nice, no PT boats or MG nests tho! I think I spotted a few snipers in the swamps though so I felt better.

I'm on my own no while Caroline has another fitting at the dress shop so I'm rambling around having fun with the tuk tuk drivers and hunting out book stores to turn in some used books that i've read.

We will indeed probably buy some more luggage for senor packhorse (i.e me) to carry around just to balance it all out.

I've got tonnes of pictures that I can share when we get back but for now you'll have to settle for the test version of the blog.
