This poor elephant was forced to walk the busy streets in Bangkok on New Year's Eve. She and a baby elephant were subjected to over 10 hours on Kao San Road, even during the fireworks at midnight. Many elephants like this who are brought to Bangkok end up getting hit by a car or truck.

Sam is from Chicago and lived in Seattle for several years before moving to Bangkok for Microsoft. My friend, Kari, connected us and we met for lunch at the famous "Cabbages and Condoms" restaurant in the Sukhamvit area.

Phenomenal Thailand
Hi Laura, So glad you've spent time in this beautiful country. I'm still enamored with Thailand and its people. What are you impressions of it? I can't imagine you're missing the snow here (yes, it's snowing in Seattle AGAIN tonight - 1/4/09). I'd rather be in BKK any day!! Keep on travelin'.... Jayne

Great memories!
Ah, so many of your pictures remind me of my visit to Thailand!! Very neat, thanks for reminding me of it all! If you get up north, take a long-tail boat down the Mekong. :)

Love the photos!
Wow...so amazing. Someday, I wll follow your foot steps with Kirk....someday! What a better way to spend a 'flood-stranded' day then to get caught up with you and your travels. (yes, with lots of snow, comes lots of rain and Snoq. river flooding.) Take care. BTW - I love your longer hair...you look beautiful. Sophie
