So we're finally here after 24+ hours of traveling - 14 hours to Tokyo, 3 hour lay-over and then 7 hours to Bangkok. Crazy day of travel and we're a bit tired for not having done anything of much and we don't have much to report as of yet (no pictures yet either).
First Class is definetly the way to fly though. Anything else is soooo Baltic Avenue (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monopoly_(game)). They stuff you with food and then have you watch TV as you lay down the entire trip. It's pretty, pretty, pretty good. After the first meal they came around with ice cream sundaes, which ruled. I wasn't that hungry, but felt obliged (real arm twisting) to eat a sundae with strawberry preserves, walnuts and fresh whipped cream.
We each had our own TV that came up out of the arm rest that provided video games, television series ( I watched Curb Your Enthusiasm, Flight of the Conchords and of course The Simpsons). They also had a ton of movies (I think the stewardess said something like 400) to watch ranging from the classics to comedy to new releases to international hits.
Once we were in Tokyo we kinda just bounced around the airport for a bit, cleaned-up and brushed our teeth. While waiting for our flight we grabbed a bite to eat - an udon noodle bowl and, one of my favorites, a meaty bun filled with pork something or other.
We arrived in Bangkok just before 11PM, local time, and cruised through customs and purchased some of their monopoly money. Our hotel limo was waiting for us, which was nice to have since we were so drained. The taxi driver was super nice and was conversing with us in his broken English as best as he could and taught us some simple Thai sayings. When asked where we were from we said, New Jersey, and he of course inquired if it was by the Mississippi River, and I corrected him and told him its by the Hudson River and NYC. From now on, we're telling people we're from New York City.
That's it for now, I promise better stories and pictures for the next post(s). But some departing words from your friend and mine, Gaylord Focker (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0212338):
Greg Focker: Hey Jack, why don't you tell 'em about your little phone call in Thai.
Dina Byrnes: Jack can't talk Thai.
Greg Focker: Oh no, Dina, Jack can talk Thai. Jack talked Thai real well.
