Well half day as we didn't set off till 1 and then had lunch before exploring...I have decided the transport system here is quite simple in a complicated way...dare i say i may just about understand it lol...
Two more british guys arrived today at the hostel and the Japanese (i think) guy joined us two making 5 of us...i was officially the veteran of Bangkok so they trusted me on how to get somewhere...well we survived and got to the first temple which was Wat Arun...the pictures explain it all, this is also the location of the largest Reclining buddha...this is absolutely huggeee. The whole complex is quite huge to be honest.
We then managed to get across the river (not by swimming) to Wat Pho where we did 'the stairs'- wasn't that high up but the stairs were steep and quite high- i thought Thai people were small...quite good views from there...and then what seemed like steep stairs going up seemed steeper going down...well after the first few they didn't seem too bad...We then managed to get back to the right side of the river...we then realised that the tourist boat had stopped and wasn't exactly sure what time the next boat was so we risked it and went for a taxi...well once again we managed to fit 5 in a taxi (managed 5 in a taxi on the way to the night market in Phuket)...bit more of a squash this time with 3 lads in the back and me...did take 3 attempts to close the door. Did manage to get the price on the taxi from 200 baht each to 150 for everyone...bargain lol.
I have added pictures from today too facebook too.
This evening after dinner and some web surfing i went with one of the British guys to the night market here and have bought another bag...i have wayyy too much stuff so am re-packing and leaving stuff at the hostel while i go travelling (beach stuff/snorkels and clothes that i haven't worn so far and probably won't) then i will return here for a night before heading down south and put some more stuff here that i won't need for travelling down south with and then leave it here till i return in December...hows that for planning.
Met two british girls this evening who are doing the same trip as me even so far as returning to Thailand for the full moon party in November...They have another friend arriving on Wednesday who is also doing the trip so that it is all good.
Tomorrow we are planning to go to the grand palace and see the other attractions around there...then probably go on a day trip to the river kwai/floating market/elephant ride on the tuesday...should be a laugh, be about 5-8 of us.
Hope everyone is well, am trying to update it daily so that i don't forget the vital parts...
Off for some sleep now :)
