Quick update from the Bangkok airport.
Mark and I rented scooters yesterday and headed up into the mountains while the girls shopped in the city. A bit unnerving in the Chiang Mai traffic at first, but we got used to it fairly quickly. Beautiful day for a ride up the mountain (Doi Suthep). Halfway up there is a temple, very nice but not as interesting as the ones in the city. Might feel a little more spiritual if there were fewer tourists smoking.
Continued up the mountain on a windy, delapidated road. Unreal views throughout. Near the top is a coffee plantation run by the agriculture dept at the Chiang Mai University. Breathtaking view, and cheap guesthouses on the premises. For any of you about to head to Chiang Mai (Jimmy), I'd highly recommend doing this. We couldn't spend the night, but wish we could have.
Mom - I drove a motorcycle to a coffee plantation on the top of a mountain in Thailand to buy you a bag of coffee. I sincerely hope you enjoy it better than Tim Hortons
So we're currently en route to Krabi. Tonight I'll hopefully be able to post more pictures, because tomorrow morning we leave for Rai Leh, where there is no internet. Supposedly one of the most beautiful areas in Thailand, and we've booked a house for ourselves. Foreign nationals own these homes in teh area, and rent them out when they're away. PLanning to do some kayaking through the mangroves and probably some lying around on the beach. Not sure about cell phone reception there, so we may be out of touch for a few days. Then on to Ko Phi Phi.
Cheers,
Colin

Buying coffee from a plantation at the top of a mountain in Thailand
is absolute proof that you love your mother. I know I will love it
and even if I don't I will say I do:) I was telling Nan about your
adventures last night. I'm going to print your travel blog so she can read it herself.
Enjoy your next adventure. Anxiously awaiting your next update.
