Hey/ sauadicar!!(that means hello) but i;m not sure how its spelt. we made it after a very long cramped flight, were here in Bangkok its 30 degrees+ we were met by a police man who is a contact of the Thai restaurant where Sam works in the u.k. He's called "A" although i'm sure its not spelt that way.
The Thai food is just fantastic so many flavours!!! i really dont know what us Brits are playing at with our "good old fashioned food" cause this food rocks!
The pollution in Bangkok it unreal so many cars and mopeds which can dangerously carry up to four people........without helmets, thats including children too! Tuc tuc's are little motor cycles with 3 wheels and a roof, two people can fit in the back seat. You kind of use it like a taxi, cheap transport.
"A" took us to restaurants around Bangkok one was like an old boat on the river there are loads along the river but they are completely stationary, very rickerty old things, bit wary of those sorts of places....scared i'm going to fall through a concealed0 rotton plank or something.
we went to the shopping centre right in the middle
of Bangkok and it was massive, its king of how i imagine China to be, there were 6 floors loads of elivators and millions of little stalls/shops, a whole floor just selling old, new and used mobile phones! Children as young as three approached us in the street bare footed selling flowers for money its so sad.
There is alot of prostitution in this city its just awful to see the lenghts people will go to for a little money.
I descovered what Aisian people use as toilets, there called squatters, its a tiolet bowl very close to the floor that you have to stand on each side of and squat to do your business! they dont use toilet roll either, you usually have the option of using a hose spray thing or in some places all you have is a buckett and a bowl containing water...... luckily i have my baby wipes to hand but have already managed to block our apartment toilet by flushing it down! so i'm now kind of straying spray waying!~!!! Agh but once you get used to the idea it is a more hygenic approach to the old spending a penny.
we ventured out of smoggy Bangkok for a night (which took 2 hours just to get outside this massive city!!!!) into the countryside, its Valentines day, ahhh, we headed to a place called Kantonabury, here we took a ride on a motorised long boat, we had drinks to hand and the sun was setting it was beautiful, also on the river were these crazy barge party boat things just like open Bungalows on the water, some are restaurants some discos, very amusing to watch the chinese adults play musical statues!!!! we sailed under a bridge that was biult by the Japonese in world war two, the track started from vietnaam and ended in Burma, the americans bombed it in the second world war and loads of people died, including hundeds of British citizens we visited the cemetory.
James and i stayed awake all night and watched the sun rise over the river its was so calm and lovely, you can see the pics,
